I picked up the Pro Media speakers a week ago and they are very good speakers. My key concern was how they compared to the Bose Companion computer speakers I am used to. The big difference is bass, the Klipsch speakers, because of the subwoofer, have a ton of it. This makes Klipsch a better choice than Bose for computer games and movies. On the other hand, if you are using the speakers mainly for music - unless it's Hard Rock - I think the Bose have a slight edge with a purer, cleaner sound. Also the Bose are usually $30 to $50 cheaper. Of course this is just my opinion, I like the "Bose" sound, not everybody does. For those who don't, Klipsch Pro Media are the best alternative.

Good for the price

Best speakers for the bucks. Was thinking about the Corsair SP2500 but it was a little out of my price range. Previewed this and I loved it. If you happen to preview/test this at the store, it's harder to ask for its potential since it's in such a big open space. Bass hits ultimately hard, best believe me, so hard that bass will start to sound like it's blowing so bass needs to be lowered. A dislike I had to say about this is that there's no Treble adjustment; A volume and bass only. Just saying, if you want to hear just bass and no treble then it's not gonna work.

I'd rate these a 4.5 approximately. Not excellent but better than just good.

Great top to bottom. Sound is a nearfield speaker sound. I would not use these to fill a room. But, at a desk or for persons who game very close to their television these would be a good value. Detail is good without being artificially crisp.

If you like real bass then the woofer seems to dial in at about a turn of 1/4 to 1/3. So, if you like ridiculous bass, you got a lot of room to work with.

I think a person who dabbles in audio or video would find these suitable for sound mixing with not surpassing a 1/3 turn on the woofer knob.

If you want something that can move a lot of air and throw sound into a medium size to even large room then you need a bigger speaker. My fave for that application for the home is the JBL 8330.

Awesome performance

This is not some ordinary set of computer speakers. I have these to listen to music in my home office. They FILL my office with sound. The adjustable bass lets the bass speaker make Deadmau5e come alive as well as Vivaldi's pieces for the highs. The range of speakers is great. I first heard these playing in Best Buy and Chris one of the reps in El Paso showed these to me. I purchased them the next week. I sort of modified the switch and pulled it off of the bottom of the speaker and have it under my monitor to adjust the volume and bass. Great sound for a small system. My son loves feeling the air coming from the bass speaker that this system has.

great speakers!!!

recently purchased Bose Companion 2....Returned them, they didn't specify the wattage at all, so when the Klipsch speakers were back in stock, bought them...they blow away the Bose speakers hands down!! Have only had them installe for about an hour, but so satisfied by the performance. Easy to install, and the sound quality is the best by far,, Especially for my laptop. 100% hard to find a good speaker system for a laptop!

Unbelievable Sound Quality

$160 bucks for Computer speakers? Yes, spend it if you desire crystal clear sound quality as I do. These speakers are OMG, amazing! I have always been a sound quality freak and I've never heard anything like this, these speakers are far and above anything I've ever heard. Going to upgrade every speaker in my house to Klipsch after hearing these things! WOW, AWESOME, KICK Butt... get ya some!

What's great about it: Amazing Sound Quality

What's not so great: Price.. but they're worth it!

I HAD TO GET A NEW SPEAKERS FOR MY ROOM CAUSE THE ONES I HAD WERE TO BIG WITH A 8" SUB AND I HAD DRUMS TO THE SUB WAS OK SO I GOT THIS SET WITH A 6.5" SUB ITS 10X BETTER THEN MY 8" IT ACTUALLY HURTS MY EAR MY OTHER ONE DIDNT COME CLOSE

The best computer speakers for under $200

The in-store display for all computer speakers was out of commission, so I purchased these because they were on sale and the majority of the reviews are favorable.

When I first plugged these in and fired up iTunes, I was disappointed. But after messing around, finding the right EQ settings and the 'sweet spot' for both the bass and volume knobs, I'm happy with my purchase.

I live in an apartment and am actually considerate to my neighbors, so deep booming bass isn't exactly a selling point to me as much as crisp highs (I want something I can listen to at a moderate-to-low volume but still HEAR the music, if that makes sense). The sub is impressive. I have mine turned mostly down (about where 10 would be on a clock) and with iTunes all the way up and my Mac's volume at three, you can cleanly hear the bass throughout my whole apartment (sorry, neighbors!). These speakers come with removable shields, and I've found that the shields severely hamper them - which is probably why in every picture, including the packaging, they're shown without the shields on.

Considering the price range they're in, they're great, but overall I'd say this speaker set is okay. It's hard to recommend something like this to a broad audience because there's many variables here - the acoustics of a room, for example, can make or break the overall sound of a system - but they're definitely worth your consideration.

What's great about it: Clean, crisp sound. Uses traditional speaker wire.
