These speakers produce AWESOME sound..my only complaint is that their is NO POWER button. Even the cheapest set of PC speaker has a power button! 5 Stars for sound quality / 4 stars overall because of the lack of a power button. My solution was to plug them into an separate surge protector/power strip to turn them on and off. I still highly recommend these speakers.

Awesome Speakers

I have no idea why folks spend upwards of $500 or more on computer speakers when these can be had for so much less. These sound way better. The only thing that may sound better is a Sonos 5, and that doesn't have the bass to match. I have had an earlier pair of these for 10+ years and needed another set for a new computer set up. Am happy these are still available - really great highs, nice bass, very balanced sound overall. The horn tweeters also provide the classic Klipsch sound (that I like) and are very efficient - a given amount of power produces more sound with these speakers. There's a reason they're still in production in favor of other/newer models from Klipsch.

The only computer speakers to buy, here's why...

I have owned a number of desktop speaker systems through the years, including several Klipsh Promedia 2.1 systems. I have never heard any that I liked better than these. I have heard Bose that I thought were comparable sounding, but for much more money. The Promedia 2.1 are great for music and movies on the computer. I won't go in to describing the sound much because you really have to hear them, but the subwoofer delivers nicely, and the desktop speakers are crisp where most others seem a bit weak or thin sounding. These may cost a bit more than Logitech and the like and they may not be quite as good as some higher end brands, but the Klipsch Promedia 2.1s are the only speakers that are high enough quality that I would listen to AND reasonable enough on price that I would buy.

I took a star because I have had at least four of these units die on me in the past. I expect they've all lasted 2-4 years, but either the amp or the controlling satellite speaker goes out. Maybe I should start buying the protection plan, but I keep hoping quality issues will be better every time I buy one. I have bought cheaper systems only to regret not having the superior sound of these though, despite their longevity issues. I have found Best Buy to have the best prices on them and always find myself coming back to these speakers, despite their flaws.

I agree with all the reviews. Good mids and highs, heavy bass that's slightly muddy but more than good enough for computer speakers, especially for the price.

Not sure if you will find a better sounding speaker system for the same cost or even up to $150.00 more. If you're looking for computer speakers, look and read no further. Buy these and you won't be dissappointed.

What's great about it: Price, good sound

What's not so great: Satellite speakers look a little bulky

Best Set of Desktop Speakers!

When I bought a new desk, I had to slim down my speaker setup from a 5.1 to a 2.1 system. I had the money to buy some high end speakers for my high-end desktop, and decided to take a chance on a brand I had never heard of. Looks like my risk really paid off.

These beasts sound wonderful! Everything is crisp, and the bass is fantastic. If you're into gaming, moves, or music, you should treat yourself to these speakers.

Only downside, no Digital Out :(

What's great about it: Fantastic Highs/Lows/Mid-Range. Look nice!

What's not so great: Lacking Digital Out. Can become extremly loud if not careful.

You can get hurt with these speakers!

I am picky. I hate to pay retail. But I come from the age of great rock & roll (late 60's to early 80's), I like my music, and I like it to sound as good as I can get it. I have played with my share of pc speakers, some very good, even had my pc sound go thru stereo to floor speakers. I did not want to pay the price for the Klipsch setup, then I said the heck with it, I'll try them. WOW! This speaker system is the real deal -- all other pc speaker systems I have messed with or listened to in stores are toys compared to this setup. If you are tired of playing with pc speakers, bite the bullet, pay the bucks, and get them. Once you get them going, you will not look back, they are excellent. Take it from and old rock & roller. All the power, crispness, and quality of sound you've been looking for. Just make sure you don't leave them cranked up and hurt your hearing.

What's great about it: Sound reproduction is awesome

What's not so great: So far, nothing not to like
