Full spectrum, balanced sound with optional heavy bass

It's used primarily for personal music listening (mostly electronic music and dance music) from smartphone. Also sometimes for tv including drama and action shows, sports, and youtube from laptop. Have used it daily for about 7 of the past 12 years (when it was bought) and still sounds like new. Only problem has been the connection into the sub from the main speaker which has gotten somewhat loose over moderate use. There is a full range of sound (for my ears) with the possibility for incredible bass. The increase for bass is linear, so it takes a soft touch to get mild bass. I keep it just barely up from minimum for balanced sound. And boy is the sound balanced. Using equalizers just messes up the sound. Really fills up the room with 3D, better than movie theater sound (if the sub is in between the speakers and if the speakers are pointed in the right directions). You really do get different atmospheres from different music artists with the THX. Especially how different instruments/sounds each fill up the air differently during a song. Also the full range of sound is perfectly cohesive (like a single speaker/sub source) if the speakers and sub are positioned just right. Just love these and don't need any other brand or kind of speakers.
Pros: atmospheric, balance, Bass
Cons: connections

The only thing I can find wrong with it is there is no power switch built into the main volume control. There are times when I am working on the computer and I want the speaker system powered down.

Absolutely Great

The one thing I do find a bit annoying is the volume control, it is so sensitive, the slightest little turn of the knob makes such a big difference in volume level. It's a small annoyance in an otherwise wonderful speaker set. The sound rivals expensive stereo sets.

This system has so much sound quality at any volume. If I needed another set of speakers for a computer or small system for a remote area this is the only one I'd look buy, especially for the price.
Pros: Just amazing sound from such a reasonably priced
Cons: Would prefer it had a power switch

Great 2.1 speaker for the price range

I bought this when I was in college. It is way more bass and volume than you could ever use without getting in trouble in a door room/ apartment however. This could make for a good entry level home theater if you don't have the money to go bigger/better.... I set mine up in college so I could use it for TV, CPU and for music. Now that I'm on to the real world and have a house noise isn't as big of a deal.... however I have cranked it up and I can still hear it outside.... So use common sense. I can see myself using this speaker for a very long time. If you take care of it, it will give you years of good quality sound. I see myself buying a second one in the future one for the living area and one for my computer or bedroom. Also if I ever get a work space in the garage I could see having one there too. So to clarify the Cons The speakers sound cracks a bit when you turn it up and is also uneven between the two speakers. To get around this I usually set the volume on the speaker and slowly turn up the volume on the device that is plunged into the speaker (make sure you stay within factory recommended levels on the device though I think it some where around 70% but DON'T take my word for it). I think this is a common complaint from most people. also an on off switch would be nice... but I always unplug it after use to save power and protect it from power surges and the like. Turn down speakers when you plug it into a device as it may make a popping noise if there is power to the speaker. Also it is very easy to set up but you don't want to put the wires in the wrong place. Just take your time and read the instructions and you'll be fine. Shouldn't take to long depending on where you place your speakers. So to review carefully read installation instructions and fallow them. Also fallow the volume guidelines, your speakers can and will break if you don't. Like all tools and equipment that are worth having take care of it and it will take care of you!
Pros: Easy to setup, crisp sub for its range, easy to fallow instructions w/ plenty of detail, good product for $ compared = priced competitors, great sound quality as it is THX certified, plug 2 devices in without jack splitter, plug 2 devices up without jack splitter, use with most devices that accept a 3.5mm jack
Cons: Speaker kind of crackles when turned up, You can break this.... Read the directions!, read comments for detailed cons, speaker doesn't turn off unless unplugged
