Their design has several critical points of failure. The control pod cannot be repaired or replaced separately that I have found. Thus:
1. If the permanently attached aux cable gets damaged, you either repair it or buy a new set. 2. If the pre-amp input cable gets damaged, good luck. 3. If the connection to either of the cables to the control pod circuit board starts being an issue, you might be out of luck.
As for how I know these things--have you ever tripped on a cable? I tripped on the attached aux. After several rounds of self-fixing, the pre-amp input started being touchy, and I threw in the towel and bought a second set.
If I could have replaced the control pod alone (preferably with one that didn't hard wire the cables to the unit), I would have done so. But they do sound nice.
Surprised by the clarity of the small speakers along with the impressive bass from the subwoofer! The fidelity matches that of much more expensive systems. Perfect for streaming or gaming.
Our son loves these speakers for his computer they sound very nice..

PWK PM 2.1 : not just for desk-tops!

My set-up: there's no cable provider or dish or stuff like that up here (remote area). So it's Cell phone w/ USB to desktop, 15', 3.5 ext. out to amp. behind recliners, remote mounted the "pod" so I can control it from my seat. Live full time in an RV. The sound system in it sounds like a clock radio. Got the PM 2.1, did a nice clean, pro-style install, can't tell it's in here, then got BOOM 3D EQ to stick in my ancient PC desktop (nothing else would, hours of 'fun' there), all good. I'm gona get kicked outa this trailer park for sure. The PWK PM 2.1 kit is worth the price of admission. Just do it.
Great sound at a great price. My son works in IT and said he has heard of a lot of people who have the ProMedia. I would not hesitate to purchase this or any Klipsch product. I also got the Klipsch soundbar and that sounds amazing too.
I needed to replace the Bose Companion 2 Speakers because they seem to lack any depth. I chose the ProMedia 2.1 THX speakers to replace them and I simply love the difference in sound quality. I hear sounds that were never there before with the Bose. For the money, these can't be beat for sound quality.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought the ProMedia 2.1 BT a few years ago (maybe 5). Great for office computer or office tv. I replaced the speaker without the volume control with a 30 watt Audio Source book shelf speaker. Good improvement. If I could do the same with the other speaker I would rate 5 stars.
