It was a 5 star but now the speakers aren’t working. I opened it up and there is this off white goo looking substance on the board. I think it’s toast.

Amazing system

Bought couple years ago, sounds amazing! Bass shakes the rooms around and highs are super clear. Goes as loud as you need for a bedroom. Simple to set up, and haven’t had a problem.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Bought this about 5 years ago. Recently the satellite speakers stopped working. I Googled, as anyone does, and it looks like this is a SUPER common problem, caused by a cheap capacitor blowing out. Is it fixable? Probably. Do I feel like tearing it apart to fix it? No. Should I expect to fix something 5 years down the road from a company that’s supposed to be “elite” when it comes to audio tech? No.
For reference, I have a set of Logitech 2.1 speakers from literally almost 20 years ago—it still works perfectly. Has never had a problem. Never buying Klipsch again.

I use these speakers with my PC. They sound great, when they work. The problem is that the control pod is hopelessly flawed. I've owned the speakers almost a year now, and several months after they first arrived 1 of the speakers (never the same one) would quit working. I realized that the problem was the control pod. Klipsch promptly sent me a new one, and that seemed to fix things, or so I thought. Then, I started having the same problem. The issue arises whenever I use the headphone jack. There is apparently a short that results in one of the 2 speakers not performing properly after the headphones are removed. It's getting more than a little tiresome having to coax the speakers to both work after removing the headphones. If I didn't need to use them sometimes I wouldn't. But such is not the case. I'll be looking for another set of speakers, in all likelihood of a different brand.

Its been WEEKS since I received a broken unit, I will simply show what I got and how I fixed it. I got tired of waiting for support and just fixed the thing myself.
First, this is how the unit was shipped to me. You can see that 1) the connection between the two boards broke (likely to the FIRST owner, in transit) and when you tried to fix it, it was in no way actually fixed.
The two boards were not connected and the mount holding them together was broken, and attempted repair had been made. But it was not repaired in a way that allowed the connection between the two boards to remain connected during shipping, as they disconnected. This was why there was no power through the unit when I first plugged it in. Only after I reconnected the two boards did I get power through the unit.

Again, it is VERY clear to me that this unit broke in shipping when it was sent to the FIRST person that bought it. You then attempted to "fix" it, which was done in a VERY poor way. So of course, it broke in the exact same way when it was shipped to me.

I read a comment that these would probably only last a year. Very Insulting I purchased 2 of these units when my youngest son was 2 hrs old. Star Wars attack of the Clones 2001 or 2002 they have been solid a few years back added a BT DAC and brought more utility out of the unit we had got damaged by my grown up kids accident just a few months ago Nov 2020. Nephew has the other still going . So glad to see they're still available. Great product
Pros: They will survive.
Cons: You'll kick yourself for not pulling the trigger
