Amazing value, amazing sound, huge kudos

This is my second set of ProMedia speakers. I had the original 5.1 system with the BASH amp, which unfortunately developed the dreaded hum and now costs as much to repair as the new set - which now includes Bluetooth.
If you've got plain old desktop speakers, you can't go wrong with this kit. Tons of volume. Crisp but not overly bright high end without too much sibilance, natural mids, and the sub is clean and never muddy, and oh my... the sound stage. I went from having sound for my computer to having sound I want to listen to. Before this upgrade, I didn't listen to music while working from home - now I don't turn it off. The difference is that stark.
There's no tone control on the system, but trust me - this is so well balanced that's probably doing you a favor. Now do yourself a favor and GET THIS KIT.

This is not the same high-quality 2.1 THX Promedia as I bought several years ago. The components are of lower quality (components of sub amplifier, power switch, fuse, modular satellite cables) and the sound quality is not as good. Disappointed in my purchase and the state of Klipsch products today.

Powerful Desktop Speakers Lasted 20+ Years!

I bought the original gen ProMedia 2.1 THX desktop speakers in early 2002 and was blown away by its performance. They've been with me through 8 moves and 7 PC iterations. They've been through the wringer, and besides being stellar desktop speakers, I've also used them on occasion to provide sound for house parties and an outdoor car meet where we showcased a racing rig for Gran Turismo on a PS2. They're the oldest PC component I own.
Last year the foam surround on the subwoofer dry-rotted but I wasn't ready to buy a new speaker set yet, so I replaced the driver with the closest approximation I could find. Sadly, the unit finally died. I'm assuming the amp board is the culprit. However, it's pretty amazing that a set of computer speakers lasted as long as they did, keeping me away from any other options over the years because these speakers were that good.
I think I'm ready to finally replace them, most likely with another Klipsch 2.1 setup, but I'll be mourning the loss of my original speakers while I decide. For everyone else, these speakers are a no-brainer. They're louder than they need to be in a compact form so the decision is pretty clear. BUY THEM!

BEWARE OF THE LITTLE PLUG!

THESE SPEAKERS SOUND GREAT! HOWEVER, I AM ON MY THIRD OR FOURTH PAIR. BUY EXTENDED WARRANTY! THE LITTLE PLUG THAT BRINGS IT ALL TOGATHER, IN THE SUBWOOFER IS GOING TO FAIL. TINY LITTLE CHEAP PLUG IS THE WEAK LINK IN THIS SYSTEM. YOU WILL BE MESSING AROUND TRYING TO GET BOTH SPEAKERS TO WORK WITHIN THE YEAR WITH THAT LITTLE CHEAP PLUG, THAT HAS FIVE OR SIX LITTLE TINY PINS. LIKE I SAID 3RD OR 4TH PAIR FOR ME, AND 2 OR 3 FOR MY WIFE'S AT HER WORK. WHEN THEY DO WORK, THEY ARE GREAT.
Pros: Attractive, Easy To Set Up, Good Audio
Cons: Not Durable, The Plug In The Subwoofer

They're NOT computer speakers!!

I've had a pair over 15 years and played them loud for 10 years in my living room. I replaced them with the RM-15s but the ProMedia 2.1 units now serve time as my TV speakers. A few years ago I bought a second pair of ProMedia 2.1s to take on golfing weekends and road-trips. They tuck nicely into a padded bag, set-up quickly, I can run them with my phone, & we're partying hard in no time. They've been in Klipsch's line-up forever so they're obviously popular, necessitating multiple production runs. If they ever wear-out or explode, I'll just order another pair. Klipsch did well with this one!!

Had two of these fail out of two systems.

I got two of these based on the Klipsch reputation. Both of these systems failed which is a 100% failure rate for me. Both of them had the same symptoms which is left side speaker failure. The speakers worked fine if I switched then so it was the power to the left speaker that failed. In both cases it was capacitors that failed. I will have to stick with other brands that seem to put out a better product that will last much longer than these speakers.
Pros: Good Audio
Cons: Not Durable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have made multiple inquires regarding the crap computer cable. Absolutely THE WORST.
Hyper sensitive to any contact. Klipsch responded once with a promise to get back to me. My first contact was Oct 20, then Nov 4 then Nov 8. Still nothing.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have had mine for several years, 5 or 6 I think, they are still just as amazing as they were new. The sound is simply perfect and the bass will make your socks go up and down. I have owned speaker sets from 3 other manufacturers and all together 5 different models from those three. I either returned or gave away all of those, but I still have and love my Klipsch Promedia 2.1 THX speakers. I'll save you the trouble and effort of shopping around, I already did it for you. Just buy the Klipsch and be done.
