Good for weak hands or people who drink too much.

At first I couldn't see the point of this device. I mean how much wine does a person drink before getting tired of opening bottles manually? Then I realized that it made opening bottles so easy that you didn't need to pry them.
With that in mind it does seem useful to others. For me it filled a niche I didn't have.
It's about the size of a wine bottle and takes up space on the counter to charge. Speaking of charging the red light is always glowing so you never know if it's done charging or not.
Overall, it works and I can see it helping others, but it could really be improved.
I received this item for my unbiased review.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Good idea but poor performance

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We received this product as a gift about two years ago and have used it once a month at the most. As of this writing, it will not hold a charge, refusing to remove even one cork. What a great idea but what a disappointment. The battery pack has no part number on it, so even if we could unsolder it, we wouldn't know what to order or where. Sad.

So far disappointed in quality

There is nothing in the instructions that state the charging light does not go of when the opener is fully charged. Found the answer on FAQ. So, it is left up to a guessing game. If you leave the charger on the base, the 30 bottle rule does not apply unless you are not suppose to leave the charger on the base. Terrible instruction book. Very disappointed!!!

Battery Replace

I never had any problem, just with the charger. I have to adjust who the wine opener stay in the base to charge. Oster I need to replace the attery but I don’t know the specification. Could I have please ?

Only got one use and it wouldn't hold a charge

Bought this Electric Wine Opener and ONLY got one use out of it before it malfunctioned. The charging base barely charges. I can get a charge enough to work into the cork, but it will not pull it out (not enough power due to lack of charge). Have to reverse to get it partially out then manually twist the rest of the cork (barely working). Back to using manual cork pull.
Was researching and trying all the advice out there over the past year, but it appears that I have a bad one, based on looking at all the other reviews. Not going to try to contact Oster as it appears that will only further waste time since this is now more than a year old. In the garbage, it goes. Waste of money and plastic.

If your wine opener is not working, it might be because the unit was not charged properly. We suggest you try the troubleshooting steps below:
1. Plug one end of the adapter cord into the base of the recharging unit and the other end into the main socket.
2. Place the Electric Wine Opener into the recharging unit ensuring that it is firmly in position and that it is fully engaged with the recharging connection. It will take approximately 6-8 hours to recharge your electric wine opener.
3. When your Electric Wine Opener is fully recharged it can be used to open approximately 30 bottles.
Take note: It has been noted that the Electric Wine Opener may experience problems with a small percentage of plastic/ synthetic corks and undersized corks, if in this case the cork should be removed manually.

Do Not Recommend!!!

I’ve used this opener 1 time and now it smells like it’s burning when on the charger and it’s not even charging. On top of the cork screw opener comes off of the device when trying to pull the corkscrew out of the wine bottle. Highly upset about this product and do not recommend. You can save some bucks and get something better. This is a shame how many bad review this product has should’ve checked before purchasing.

Charger went out again just after one year wareant

I love the ease of the Oster wine opener especially since I suffer from carpal tunnel. I had bought an opener in 2011 and it stopped charging just after the one year warranty. I decided to give it another try last year and I shouldn’t have been surprised by the fact that the same thing happened with the second one. Almost one year to the day the base charges but the opener won’t charge at all. So frustrating!!! I won’t make the same mistake by trusting the Oster product again.
