I got it as a gift. It's terrible. It's hard to use when it actually manages to remove the cork. It totally failed to open 2 bottles and pretty much shredded the corks. A regular manual corkscrew opened the bottle just fine even after the oster shredded the cork.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Please be advised that it has been noted that the Electric Wine Opener may experience problems with a small percentage of plastic/ synthetic corks and undersized corks, in this case, the cork should be removed manually.

Rechargeable unit seems to no longer function.

We bought this unit in June and it no longer seems to hold a charge. We always keep in in the charging unit. We really have enjoyed this up until just recently.

Sticky outside

I have had this opener for awhile and it has worked great. Recently, when I went to open a bottle of wine the black rubbery part was sticky. I tried cleaning it and it didn’t get any better. Is there something I should try to remedy this?

We are sorry to hear that the rubber part of your Oster® Silver Electric Wine Opener had become sticky. Sometimes, due to environmental conditions like temperature and UV exposure, the rubber can break down and become sticky. You can mix some baking soda with water to create a thick paste that is about the consistency of toothpaste. Rub the paste over the surface with a cloth, then rinse clean.

I got this as a gift 3 years ago or more and I love it. Don't what the others were doing but I have not had any trouble with mine at all and it is used a lot. I do keep it plugged in on the charger all the time. The only little problem is when opening a bottle with the plastic corks, it does not want to let it come down and I have to get a pliers to hold onto the cork for it to come out of the opener, but that is no big problem.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Doesn't do the job. my

This item was given as a gift three months ago. The motor has given out, there's not enough power to pull the cork out of the bottle. I don't know if its the motor or the charger. Pastic casing seperates when uncorking a pastic cork. What a bust.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

If a piece of cork breaks off inside the opener, it's impossible to get the piece out. There is a little ledge it gets caught on, which prevents the opener from working. Other than that we love it. To prevent, it's important to remove the foil before opening. Store it on the charger.
