Watching Star Trek on a DVD player is an okay experience. Adequate colors and sound.
Watching Star Trek blu-ray is another thing altogether. The colors pop out at you and the sound is excellent. Special effects are indeed special. I would definitely recommend this product.

Being a fan of the original Star Trek, I was wary of a reboot. Many times, reboots don't live up to the original. In this case, they succeeded. Instead of a complete reboot that ignored what came before it, this movie uses the original as a starting point. The story is engaging, and the acting is pretty good. Of particular note are Bones and Scotty. Their portrayals really bring the essence of the original characters, while still being their own.

I was surprised at this Star Trek reboot. Better than I expected. I still didn't care for the engine room. I could tell it was present day technology stuffed into a 23rd century starship. I didn't care for those bulbous Nacelles on the Enterprise. Nitpicky stuff I have.
