Great Movie

Having a degree in ancient history, specializing in Roman history, I had to see this movie in the theater. The attention to details in the battle tactics, clothing and decoration are simply superb, great work Ridley Scott. I then bought it on DVD the day it was released in 2000 and of course I had to buy the Blu-Ray copy the day it came out. When I first played the Gladiator Blu-Ray disc I was not very happy with the image quality, along with many other reviews that I have read. I then started to read my TV's user manual about image quality and noticed the DNR Control (Digital Noise Reduction Control). I stated Gladiator and adjusted the TV's DNR Control, the more DNR I added the worse the image quality got. I then turned off the DNR altogether and the image quality became perfect and sharp. I hope this helps others enjoy Gladiator on Blu-Ray.
What's great about it: Picture Quality and the attention to details when filmed
What's not so great: Nothing

I find the image quality superb. The sound was crystal clear. I didn't experience any of the problems that other people have talked about in their reviews. The transition from music to conversation was great. In some movies the music was too loud and then I could barely hear the conversations. I didn't have this problem at all with this movie. I haven't found any problems with this product. It was definitely worth the money. I just wish I had bought the DVD so I could get the extra $10 off.
What's great about it: image, sound, and the extended version
What's not so great: haven't found anything i didn't like about it
I would recommend this to a friend!

Overall the quality of the picture is good, but the Digital Noise Reduction is VERY obvious on scenes with lots of CG [any cityscape and most landscapes. It really emphasizes the CG]. However, any shots with close-ups or lots or actors look great. You can see everything from the dirt on their face to the stitching on their clothes. If you have the DVD rent the Blu-Ray before buying it. If not, you wont regret it.
What's great about it: Actors, Story
What's not so great: Digital Noise Reduction

one of the best films, enjoy, rome still here with us in our daily life, can be a better transfer from the film to blue-ray but is ok, the film pay for him self.
What's great about it: the movie
What's not so great: the picture quality is not the best :( but ok.

Overall this movie looked amazing on blueray. Why would any one else see it differntly. Great movie.
What's great about it: The picture was amazing, the color was very detaling on bllue ray.
What's not so great: In the beging of the movie it seemed to be very dark. To hard to see..just my opion.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Enjoyed watching this movie for the second time, especially on blu-ray format, as the movie has many panoramic vistas and was filmed well. The storyline is very involved & interesting, far beyond the implications of the title "Gladiator". Acting was top-notch as well.
Overall a great hi-def movie experience.
What's great about it: paid $10 during black Friday, excellent movie for blu-ray format, good storyline
What's not so great: graphically violent
I would recommend this to a friend!

Besides it being a great movie, there is a $10 rebate on the Blu Ray if you own the regular DVD version. What's better than getting a movied you love in Blu Ray for $12?
