After using a Zune, a Sansa Fuze, and an iPod, I think this Sony has them all beat with respect to features to price. I am very pleased with the Sony thus far. Set up is a breeze and the player itself is intuitive. I had two Zunes and both players broke (not to mention the software did not always download/upload properly) albeit when they worked it was quite nice. Still, I think the Sony is easier to use. The great thing about the Sony is that you can easily drag and drop from Windows media player or iTunes.
What's great about it: Easy set up, Intuitive feel, Cheaper than Zune and iPod, Works with WMP or iTunes

I bought this little MP3 player for my mom for her birthday and I have to say: it's much better than I expected!! She is a bit technologically challenged so I wanted to get something that wasn't too confusing to use and this is perfect!
The radio works wonderfully and gets great reception, the layout is extremely easy to use, getting your music on/off the player is incredibly easy (although I haven't figured out how to get it directly from CD to the player - we always have to load the CD to the computer first), the screen has a crisp/clear picture.
One of the things I don't like about the player is that you can't create a playlist directly on the player. In order to make one you have to go onto the computer and create it/save it through there. Which isn't really conducive to situations when you're nowhere near a computer. The other thing I don't really like is that it doesn't come with a wall charger, you need to charge it through the computer. Although, if you have a phone charger with a mini-usb head you can use that :-)
What's great about it: easy to use, quality sound, decent price
What's not so great: Doesn't have a charging plug, can't create a playlist directly on the player

This thing works great. The sound is incredible and it is very easy to use. It's only an 8 gig but a guy at my work has the same one with more than 1,100 songs on it and there is still plenty of space left for more. I researched online and tried my co-workers model and it is the best MP3 for the money I could find. This MP3 holds pictures, videos, and much more. I had loaded everything I had for videos, music, and pictures on my computer onto the MP3 on accident (click happy incident) and I just reached 50% of its memory. I am very impressed with it and recommend it to everyone. I have always owned Sony products and will continue to do so.
What's great about it: everything. easy to load music, video, pics, and the FM tuner works great.

After owning numerous ipods i chose to stray from the fad and buy a cheap mp3 player knowing i would be replacing it as quick as i could gather the money. I bought the original sony walkman 4gb nothing special; video, picture, music. First i was thrilled when i realized i could obtain music from any source, my computer, a friends, anywhere! So you can imagine how upset i was (after owning it for a few months) when i pulled it out of the bottom of the washer after a full load cycle! i took the two screws out let it dry and prayed. The next day i plugged it in it worked! I use it when i cycle as well, i tuck it into the side of my spandex and the sweat gets in. i have thought ive ruined it at least 6 times now but just wait a day and it works. just recently i bought the 8 gb thinking the original was done for. it didnt work for a few days as i was going to through it in the trash i plugged it in for one last time, IT WORKS! I dont know whether to take the new one back or keep it! as far as the battery life; turn the brightness all the way down and dont fidgit with it that is how you get thirty hours. Charging isnt hard and who listens to music 40 hours a day? is that even possible? BUY THIS THING
What's great about it: DURABILITY!!!!! way cheap, so easy even a caveman can do it
What's not so great: scratches easily but iits all how you use it, would rather it work and it never fails!

I previously had the Sony Walkman until my dog bit it up. So recently I purchased the I-pod nano not knowing what I got myself into. For starters you don't need to install anything on yourr computer like I-tunes. Second, it dosen't matter where or how you get your music on there (if it's free) while on the I-pod you have to go through several steps before even getting one song. The Sony Walkman is definetly a better choice because the quality is better too. The nano's speakers are horrible while the walkman is just right. if you don't want to waste your money I highly suggest this one (or any other of it's creations).
What's great about it: If your looking for something like an i-pod with speakers and everything either sony is great!

I am a PC so finding an 8 gig player that was less than half the cost of the IPOD type players, I thought was a great thing. There were no installation issues, it is easy to transfer songs to, and since you can create folders just like it is an external hard drive and create playlists from those folders, the 8+ gig of songs I already had I found were easy to organize and manage. Great item for the money.
What's great about it: Great price, small size, easy to use

I have owned this MP3 for about 6 months and then one day it just shuts off and now when I plug into my computer or any computer to down load music or charge it the computers don't recognize the device. Also, sometimes the device would freeze up and just sit on loading screen. I would expect this device to have more of a shelf life.
