5 of 5 stars for comedy movie Night at the Museum, Battle of the Smithsonian (aka Night at the Museum 2). If you have not yet seen Night at the Museum (#1), stop reading this review and go watch it--a funny movie! This movie continues the story from #1 with the same basic characters and adds a few new characters including a mondo-bad-guy. I am very happy to have Ben Stiller continue in the lead role of Larry and Robin Williams plus Owen Wilson in the roles made famous in #1. To this mix, we add a new "girl friend" for Larry and Hank Azaria as the big bad guy.
The story starts out with all of our friends from the National History Museum being moved into storage at the Smithsonian complex. Not good. They happened to also store the magic tablet along with the other exhibits. Fun in the store room begins and various things/people come alive at night. Lots of fun on a much larger scale than #1. I won't spoil any of the fun, but, let me tell you my favorite scene is the entire Air & Space Museum at Smithsonian comes alive and they try to launch/fly everything within; wild!
Very well made movie with great effects that are subtle. Fun plot, well acted and a good time for the whole family. I highly recommend this movie--however, you gotta watch the first Night at the Museum movie before watching this installment! 5 of 5 stars for comedy movie Night at the Museum, Battle of the Smithsonian (aka Night at the Museum 2). We bought this movie with the idea that it would be similar to the first one but taking it up a notch; However, this one was almost exactly like the first one. Put both movies side-by-side and you can't tell 'em apart. This one did have some better special effects and the jokes were a touch funnier, but outside of that it's pretty much the same thing. If you haven't seen the first one, then I'd recommend picking it up. Otherwise, you can get the first one and you won't really be missing anything.
What's great about it: Special effects and some comedic scenes/jokes
What's not so great: Very much like the 1st and a bit flat

If you liked Night at the Museum, you'll like Battle of the Smithsonian every bit as much. They managed to come up with a workable plot theme to get into a new museum with the same "problem" as the one in the original movie. There are plenty of new quirky memorable characters as well as some old ones. I still laugh every time I think about Kahmunrah and Brundon. I was a little disappointed that Ricky Gervais completed every last one of his sentences, but he was still quite funny. Again - this is more of the same without feeling like a retread. Enjoy!
What's great about it: If you liked the original night at the museum, you'll love this as well
What's not so great: Maybe not quite as many quotable lines, but we've only watched it twice

The quality of this bluray is great. Movie was good and a DVD was included which made it a better value. We actually loaned the DVD out to my parents because they don't have bluray. Everybody in our house enjoyed this one.
What's great about it: Excellent quality Bluray, DVD included
