The Canon EOS 7D has turned out to be a great camera for me. It is easy to use and has much of the same look and feel of my older Canon cameras. It is not Canon's newest offering but, it is still the fastest. Also, i think that it is the best "bang for the buck". My first shoot was at a low light indoor show where no flash was allowed. I didn't buy the camera for this setting but, it WORKED GREAT! I can't wait to get it out for some fast action photography.

I have wanted to buy this camera since it came out. I like the speed of the continuous shooting. I'm still getting use to it. It's not that heavy and easily fit in my camera backpack I also purchased at Best Buy. It's a hobby more than anything for me. I love to travel and hike and a good sturdy camera is nice to take along. you never know what you'll capture on film while hiking a trail.

Great camera not for beginners.

The reviews that I read are true, camera is heavy, shooting vertical I leave my left hand on the lens to crop the picture and focus it so my right hand is up above pressing the shutter button. my left-hand is holding the lens with enough light the picture turns out excellent, in low light my thumb will be in the light of the flash cutting off the picture, so remember to put your left hand back on the camera body before taking the picture, and turned off the autofocus in low light and focus manually pictures will turn out a lot better.
What's great about it: You can set it for point-and-shoot for your friends who take pictures of you, and you can be very creative with rest!
What's not so great: Heavy, clear shield over LCD stop scratches!!
I would recommend this to a friend!

I was always discouraged by 35mm film cameras because of the time it took to get a picture developed either by developing it myself or sending it out to get developed. I often wasted rolls of film and money because I couldnt see what the results where until the roll ran out and got the film developed. Now that digital cameras have been around awhile and the picture qualtiy either meets or exceeds 35mm plus the fact that you can do so much with the camera and the printed results, I cant find a better way to spend my time. I also can see the results instantly and delete pictures that are not so great, which are a lot. This camera does it all and then some. You may spend lots of money on a digital camera, but you make up for it by not throwing your money away on rolls of film. Picture quality is great and there are so many ways to get your picture the way you want it.
What's great about it: Quality of pictures and build. Lots of features
What's not so great: none

So far I have only used the auto settings but I can't fault the camera in any way for my own lack of knowledge or experience. I have used a Canon Rebel XT for a few years. It did a good job but I wanted more than 8 megapixels. I am very happy with the 7D and I just got the dummy level books to learn about all the wonderful settings and features. Even now the camera makes me look good so I can just imagine what will happen later on! I primarily wanted it for photos/portraits but eventually will try the video as well. Now for some pro len$e$....
What's great about it: Solid construction, beautiful images and color, uses the lenses I already had for the Rebel XT
What's not so great: RAW format not recognized by Photoshop Elements or CS2. RAW edit software not very intuitive for me.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I did a fair amount of research before deciding to buy this camera. Yes it is expensive. No, it isn't for a novice but I cut my teeth on standard SLRs before digital and have been complaining about the point and shoot digitals for years.
My kids are starting with full automatic and getting the best pictures they have ever taken. They are starting a production business and are growing into the camera. With the features, they won't outgrow it.
The ability to use apature or speed priority and adjust the ISO rating is great. The movies are clear and the in camera sound is adequate.
For someone who can't spring for the 5D and wants a SLR / HD Movie camera, this is a great camera.
What's great about it: HD Movies, crisp pictures
What's not so great: 4 gig limit on single movie sequence.
I would recommend this to a friend!
