I am learning about this new model. I am overall pleased because of the number of options, quality of photos, video, large view screen, and general ease of use. I shoot wildlife, travel photos, and people in natural/real settings (and anything else that catches my eye or interest). This camera is a step up from other models and will please many photographers.
Some of the downsides are the steep price, the weight (a little heavy), noise, and sometimes speed. Using image stabilization leses will help when encountering slow processing.
I like the camera overall and it is getting lots of use as I learn more about it.
What's great about it: It is easy to change settings and use menu, video, decent photos quality.
What's not so great: A little noisy and can be slow at times.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I recently bought a Canon Rebel XS + 75-300mm + extra battery. I've used it for a couple days. I realized I wasn't satisfied with output. Maybe it's because I've seen the output of a Nikon D90 from a friend. I was stunned with results of the D90 but it's a little step up from the Canon Rebel XS. A difference of only 2MP. Nothing much.
But when I tried this, I feel like a real photographer. Saturation, Speed, HD video., ISO, etc, are the only the few features of this magnificient camera.
I still have to read the manual and most probably join a forum so I can learn the other features.
To tell you the truth, I am the type of person that would spend something that I will be happy with. I dont want to buy or keep the Canon XS for a few months then upgrade to a better camera. Tha will cost me more.
I would rather have something more advance now, something I like and something that is limitless with options. It really broke the bank and cost me an arm and a leg.
One more thing, i was force to buy a CF card. I also ordered on ebay a SD to CF converter.I have so many SDHC cards. Thats the only downside on 7D.
What's great about it: All the features you will ever need.
What's not so great: Pricey. It broke the bank. It cost me an arm and a leg. Im broke. CF Card :(((
I would recommend this to a friend!

Being primarily a Nikon user, this was my first Canon purchase, and after getting used to the differences, this camera is awesome! It takes excellent video and at 21.1megapixels, packs a lot of punch!
What's great about it: Video
What's not so great: It is kind of pricey
I would recommend this to a friend!

I am primarily a Nikon User and preferred Nikon cameras. The 7D is the best crop sensor Canon camera yet.
After lagging behind for several years Canon has a camera that is very close to the Nikon D300 in still picture quality and features plus the 7D is way ahead of Nikon in video performance. 7D video is awesome!!!
After reading of AF issues, I am happy to say my unit works perfectly.
What's great about it: Video is fantastic.
What's not so great: A little pricey.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I want this camera so badly, having shot with the Canon 30d for a few years and having wanted to move up to the 50d this beast has been announced, it looks and sounds great, I cannot wait to get one in my hands to actually try. But the main point of my writing this is to say that this camera uses COMPACT FLASH and not SD or SDHC style memory card, so keep that in mind when you purchase.
And if you wanna learn how to use it better ask a sales associate at your local Best Buy about a 1 on 1 training.

I was in love with this camera from the day I first seen it at Bestbuy back in 2008. I am not a pro by any means and very green about most functions of DSLR cameras. So I waited because of cost reasons and went with the XSI. which for me was a great first DSLR, had that for a few years and it got dropped and broken. had the warranty and Bestbuy was awesome about replacing price matched technology. meaning the XSI was discontinued and the T1i was on its way out also. So they said what you paid for the XSI back when it was new is where the T2i is right now in price, So I left with that Camera. It is a awesome camera for cash. And is reviewed as good as the T31 for picture quality. So I made the leap at the 7D, it was on sale. but I found that the picture quality wasn't as clear as the T2i and all the reviews I read said the same. If you want super clear pics you have to work on them after the fact with a program like light room or some thing on that order. The t2i tested better than the 7D straight out of gate no retouch needed if you upgrade the Glass. So I did that, now a few reviews said that there was a problem with the 7D as far as clarity, And that some take very clear pics right out of the box. But I tried all the ways to make a clear shot and it wouldn't be as clear as my t21. I checked it against my t2i using the lens off the 7D. each time shot for shot the t2i had the better pic. Not just 2 or 3 pics I shot over 700 pics on the 7D at least 100 side by side comparisons Everything I could think of t2i was always a cleaner pic using the better glass from the 7D. not the kit lens. So money being spent if your going for a clear & clean pic with out any after picture touch ups, then go with the t21 or t31 they wear given the same picture quality reviews. There not a pro camera that are sealed for the elements. but I'm not going to stand in the rain for a picture either. They don't feel as well built as the 7D but I like the smaller size a lot lighter to carry around, just don't drop them.
What's great about it: the build of the body
What's not so great: picture quality
