Very good color accuracy

The good:

*Most ergonomic canon SLR I have used
*Best color accuracy of any canon SLR I have used
*1080p video is excellent, dare I say better than many pro camcorders

The bad:
*This camera is quite expensive.
*1.6 crop factor CMOS (this could be in the good category, except I prefer wide angle shots and this crop factor hampers this a bit)
*25MB raw files. I have started to shoot in mRAW (10mp raw files) since the full size raw files are HUGE

All together I would say this is the best camera I have used for under 2k. Its low light performance is rather better than my old 30d and its autofocus is lighting fast. I just wish they had a full frame version of this camera to allow me to use the full potential of my wide angle lenses.

What's great about it: It has the best color accuracy of any canon camera I have used.

What's not so great: At 1.8k this camera is not cheep, also at full size raw files are 25MB each.

I would recommend this to a friend!

Excellent camera

I have only had a little time to play around with the camera but it is a huge improvement over my 10D which isn't surprising. Features and functionality are easy to use along with far more programming options than I am used to from my older camera. The color just pops off the screen in the pictures I have taken so far. The camera is about as heavy as my old one was so it can be a lot to lug around. Picture quality is excellent with the 18 megapixel processor. If you are looking for a DSLR that is designed for more than just the "point and shoot" person then this is a good value. An added plus is even in full auto mode you still have the ability to capture RAW format images so if you do decide to let the camera do all the work you have some extra editing options.

What's great about it: Excellent color, picture clarity, features, ability to shoot RAW in full auto

What's not so great: Weight

I would recommend this to a friend!

An excellent camera

In the world of cameras you're not going to go wrong with this one. Stepping into my first DSLR has been great and it has been an excellent learning experience. Regular point and shoots can not come close. But of course - why not get a Rebel and save some money - well speed for one thing. If needed this camera can shoot up to 8 fps and in my experience has done fine to capture just the right moment for me. Also while I have not purchased speedlites yet - I will in a short while and the wireless control is built into this one which is awesome for Canon. One last note...some reviews may say 18 megapixels is too much but honestly the images I have downloaded off of this camera have been absolutely clear and noise free and additionally on that even when at 6400 ISO the noise is not bad at all.

WOW-Great Camera

It came with the 28-135 Cannon zoom. which works adequately, but I had several older third party lenses that I had used successfully on my old Canon EOS film camera. They did not prove adequate for the 7D. I purchased a Tamron 17-50 f2.8 which works quite well, but the Tamron 18-270 and Canon 70-300 leave something to be desired in the image sharpness above about 150 mm. The Canon 70-200 f4 IS I borrowed produced fabulous images at every setting.

Pros: -Superb image quality, Superb ISO performance, fast 19 point AF system,, Excellent movie modes, Multitude of features, Feels goo in my hand

Cons: -Autofocus complex options, No autofocusing while recording a movie

What's great about it: Fantastic images even in low light

What's not so great: shows flaws in lesser quality lenses, recommend near "L" quality if possible

Everything I've been looking for

The already low price combined with Best Buy's 18 month interest free financing option made this a definate buy for me, an independent filmmaker without a lot of money, yet needing a camera that could deliver a high quality image. Though this is a digital SLR, I use it primarily for its HD video capability, which rivals the top prosumer video cameras out there.

What's great about it: For use as a video camera, it is comparable to other HD cams valued over $5000

What's not so great: Audio quality

This camera is awsome

I have only had this camera for a few weeks and due to illness have not been able to really put it through its paces. However, without reading the guide I was able to use most of the functions including the video feature. Another reason I purchased the 7d is the larger viewing screen. Can't wait to football season and see the results of my shot instantly where even someone like me can see them with this screen. I was amazed at the quality of the video and edited this easily in Pinnacle. Looking forward to getting more intimate with this camera.

What's great about it: excelent video quality which is a big plus and great stills as expected from a Canon.

What's not so great: requires different batteries from my other Canons.

I would recommend this to a friend!
