A Game Changer!

I had been longing for something to help me transition my freelance video production into many things. I wanted to look into digital photography, high definition, and an overall different look than my prosumer miniDV cameras.
First, knowing nothing about photography other than what I can take from my video knowledge, I was able to make a profit from photos in no time. Every image looks so incredibly clear. I am amazed at the blazing speed and quality of the burst mode, taking 8 pictures per second.
The two big reasons for buying this camera were the high definition options (24/30/60fps) and the lens selection. I wanted something that could give me an shallow depth of field and a more cinematic experience, and I found it right out of the box with the 28-135mm lens that was included in my kit. I can only imagine the possibilities when I purchase more lenses. The audio from the camera isn't that great, however audio should be recorded separately anyway.
I have no problem editing the video either. I have run into issues with HD consumer cams not working well in my editing software, however there is no problem here. This has been the greatest addition to my arsenal, and I suggest that anyone wanting a professional look at a much more reasonable price than some of your other options out there needs to choose a Canon DSLR!
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, easy to use

Overall this is an amazing camera.
Super image quality and camera performance in the right hands.
An almost endless array of customizable features. So many features that it can be overwhelming at first. Take the time to learn and understand these features and you will start to really appreciate what this camera can do.
Build quality is excellent and the camera has an excellent feel to it.
Price is a bit on the steep side. This is the reason I only gave an overall rating of 4 out of 5.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation
Cons: price

The 7D is an amazing camera. As an avid film user, it took awhile for digital to win me over. I haven't been this excited since I first purchased my Canon A-1, 31 years ago. The image quality is remarkable, and it is easy use, even before you read the manual. It is solidly built, and I love the grip on the body which makes holding and shooting effortless.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

Amazing Camera

I use the canon 7D mainly for film purposes, and it is amazing. It has great image quality, and range of settings. I also have really liked all the Camera User Settings, where you can setup preset modes. It makes setting up a shot much faster and easier. The only thing, is that my shutter spin wheel broke after 3 weeks of using the camera, but canon was happy to repair it for me.
Pros: great price, image quality, range of settings, camera user settings

FANTASTIC Upgrade

I have owned a Canon camera for years and purchased an original Digital Rebel when they first came out and was really happy with it, sadly enough, it was time for an upgrade. I was shopping around and my local camera store suggested that I look at a new Canon 7D. The moment I picked it up I was surprised on how comfortable the grip was, fit like a glove. The features were many, way more than what I was use to on my digital Rebel. I kept coming back to the 7D, first because I had all Canon lens' and did not feel like I wanted to start purchasing new lens' from a different brand (everything is Canon, camera, flash, EF and EF-s Lens, software, printer and paper), so it made my decision a little easier.
The 7D is rock solid, has some really great features, that I am still learning about, all of my current lens' work on this system, LCD on top and on the back of the camera are well lit and well placed, the Canon Battery grip I added with the extra battery is like a never ending power supply, I have recharged maybe twice since I purchased this. The video is outstanding, shooting in full HD. 18 mega pixels and with the 19 point Auto focus system, it is a top notch camera. High speed shooting is fantastic, up to 8 frames per second, especially when taking shots of my son's baseball games. All in all, I could not have made a better choice (well if I had the cash, I would have thought about the 5D Mark III), still I love this camera and have used this camera more in a three month span than I did the Rebel the last 3 years. Family members want to use my camera every chance they can get and both my neice and my brother-in-law are seriously thinking about purchasing a 7D, I told them they should, they will never regret it.
Pros: well made magnesium body, full hd, fantastic features, 18 mega pixels, ef and ef-s can be used with this camera
Cons: price but other than that nothing that comes up

Great upgrade

I have own Canon cameras for almost 50 years and have always enjoyed the sturdy metal body cameras. While I have own a few of the Digital Rebels with plastic body, I must say that the 7D is a welcome upgrade. While 7D is a heavier camera, especially when my 18-200 zoom is mated with the 7D, than the Digital Rebels, I get accustomed to extra weight. I love the features of the camera, the 3" viewfinder with the near 100% and the cross type 19 point auto focus system. I am sure that others who own this camera may be less enthused over this camera, but, without going into more details, suffice to say, I love this camera as much as I did my old Canon F1.
Pros: Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, easy to use

I upgraded to the 7D after using the 60D heavily for one year. I love everything about the 7D, there are many added features over the 60D. The only thing I miss about the 60D is the articulated screen. The first thing you notice is the sound of the shutter is much more substantial, just sounds more professional. The button customization ability is much greater. You can change many settings quickly and easily. The autofocus speed and servo tracking are so much better. The only physical feature of the camera that I don't like is the multi-controller (joystick) that I frequently push by mistake in when trying to push up/down, etc. Overall, though, the camera feels very solid and reliable, and is a pleasure to use.
Since there's no other place to comment on the BG-E7 grip, I'm going to do it here. I don't understand why Canon opted for a back-loading battery tray design, which forces the front of the grip to be very large and blocky, uncomfortable to hold. The grip for the 60D has a side-loading battery tray, which allows for a more tapered design where the fingers hold the grip, and is much more comfortable. Judging from photos, the grips for the 5D II and 5D III are also side-loading and look much more comfortable. These others also have a sliding power button that can be accessed with one hand. The BG-E7 for the 7D requires two hands.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu
Cons: poor battery grip design
