What an upgrade

I am not a profesional photograph and have been using a Rebel XTi with great results. Looking to upgrade after researching what I wanted in a new body as I am very happy with my Canon 18-200mm lens I settled on the 7D. What an upgrade it was and verly little learning curve to delve into the many new features that has sparked my desire for better photographs.
The increase in "brackting" , video ability, so much more control over my pictures was visible on my first run with the 7D and the controls are easy to see and operate. Well done Canon on the 7D. In the "cons" I have listed "Heavey/Bulky" but only compaired to my XTi and after a few days it is comfortable and easy to manuver.
Pros: Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: noisy, Heavy/Bulky

Great Step Up

Bought this camera as an upgrade to my 30D. Great choice better features larger sensor, sensor cleaning. The 30D is a good second camera but the 7D is now my workhorse for portraits, weddings, hockey and soccer. Great product at a very reasonable choice.
Pros: good battery life, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD

What a nice camera

Up graded from xsi, took some getting used to the menu, and controls in different locations but after taking couple of weeks shooting with the camera and getting the settings to my liking ,I am really enjoying the outcome of my photos. I don't like to use a lot of post processing so I rely on the camera to take quality images. I'm impressed with low light images and my night time city scapes are vastly improved due to the cameras ability to handle dark scenes with low noise. I have seen other reviews that say low light performance is not good but I think it may be a setting problem, once I got this camera dialed in and understood its metering system ( much reading) I get very quality images. Very happy with purchase and camera performance.

Cons: Heavy/Bulky

Great Upgrade

I purchased this camera about a year ago now. My wife has used it most of this time. I did take a trip with her to do Whale watching recently and i used the camera. WOW was I please with the high percentage of perfect photos including focus and exposure. I used a 100-400 Canon lens and all worked great together. A moving boat, jumping whales and nothing steady or predictable. This camera and lens combination was fabulous. I would recommend this camera to anyone serious about great shots on a small budget and can't get say the 1D X. I really have no gripes as I am realistic to know nothing works perfectly in all conditions. This camera is a real pleasure.

Great camera

I am a retired professional photographer, but I still shoot high school and college sports. It is a great camera and does everything I ask of it on a daily basis.

Canon does not disappoint! Packed with features that make capturing the shot intuitive! Customizable to every shooting style! Image quality that moves the viewers... If you are not using canon products.. Do yourself a favor ... Try them .. You will never look back!

Worth Every Dollar

Coming from my 400D, this was the best decision I've made. Everything is ten fold better and will allow me to improve my skills and provide better IQ to my clients, etc.. I also enjoy the HD video, it provides a versatile side of the camera and it's fun to use and make excellent videos.

Well worth the money

I purchased a Canon 7D about 6 weeks ago. If you are used to using a EOS camera it is very simple and straight forward. It does an amazing number of thing and does them all well. The biggest suprise for me was the hiigh quality video. I expected a so so quality video to go along with a great still shot camera, but was blown away by how good it is. I have done commercial video using a $80,000 camera for 10 years and this camera shoots as good or better than that camera. The only down side is no electric zoom for smoother push pulls.
Overall I feel like I got a great camera that performs way better than I expected. I had a 30D prior to this and I loved that camera...this is way better though.
