Very good camera

I purchased this about 3 months ago and love the camera and its features. It takes great pictures and the features are very handy. I use the high speed multiple shots alot and get great clear shots. I have notice that I get some soft pics at times but usuly is due to low light or bad settings. One thing I would like to change is the "auto" ISO setting range. I notice if I use it, the ISO can jump up to 3200 very fast and can stay above 1600 most of the time. I have adjusted by setting my prefered ISO and making manual adjustments. It would be nice to set a range. Other than that it is vey good. I even dropped it once and have no marks or problems. I have developed a dead pixl already but only noticable above 800 ISO and very easy to fix in post production. Ovwer all a great camera, a little expencive but very nice.
Pros: Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Superior build quality
Cons: expensive, high "auto" iso

Upgrade not Update

To be honest, a fantastic camera indeed even after more than 1 year of release. I used to use the semi pro range of the Canon line up, 40D to be precise, and I am in such need to upgrade my gear. The two digits-D were great cameras for me, who is an advanced enthusiast taking both travel and artistic pictures. They were quite fast, and still maintaining a solidly built magnesium alloy body. I trust Canon for their ease of use, and a whole lot of decent lens and accessories to support my EOS. I have been waiting patiently for them to release something more advanced, somewhat like their competitor's higher end crop sized DSLRs. I can't wait any longer and decided to head for the 7D to upgrade my old workhorse.
Excellent built and feel was my initial opinions to this new but soon to be legendary single digit-D camera. It really isn't something which continues Canon's current line, but instead a whole new level of high end APS-C camera. After 3 months of use, equipped with a new general purpose zoom 15-85 and a 70-200 f2.8, I was like crazy with my new gear. Dead on accurate 19 points cross type AF was another great update over the long used 9 point AF on my old 40D, not to mention the sweet 8 fps continuous burst which works much like a machine gun. All other great features are the VF, LCD, controls, virtual horizon, user friendliness and much much more. One thing I could have comment on it is the card slot. One more card slot would do fine just the the other did! ('Cause I do shoot a lot)
I feel like my my entire shooting experience have been upgraded, given that 7D is not just an update but rather an upgrade for top of the line APS-C in Canon's range. I wonder when will Canon release a successor to it? Hmmm... should I wait for it....
Anyway keep up the great work!
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, viewfinder, quick burst mode, fast/accurate af, virtual horizon, 'upgraded' experience!
Cons: no dual card slot

I'm Impressed

I started my Canon journey when the 20D was first introduced. I enjoyed using this camera and after 5 years of heavy use, it finally stopped working. I returned it to Canon for repair and decided to take them up on their offer to trade the 20D in and replace it with a refurbished 50D at a great price. Again, the 50D has been an outstanding performer. I will continue to use this model as a backup. The 7D has thus far exceeded all of my expectations. The fact that I have barely had to reference the users manual, speaks volumes as to it's ease of use. The auto focus is extremely fast and the image quality is outstanding. Manual operation is also a breeze. If a full frame SLR is beyond your budget, this model is my recommendation. My only disappointment is that it uses a different battery than the 50D.
Pros: excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: requires different battery than previous models.

My husband went from a IS3, to a 50D and now we've upgraded to a 7D! It took a while to make a decision on whether it would be the 5D or 7D and boy are we both pleased with our purchase! The ultimate decision was made because the 7D has so many focal points versus the 5D. This camera makes my pictures look professional quality and my husband, because he is a photographer, has taken his quality to a whole new high! It is so much easier to use in terms of getting quality, clear shots than the 50D was... Especially if you have not been using a DSLR for more than a few years and completely understand how they work.
Pros: lots of focal points, feels sturdy & professional, great depth of field with several lenses

Very powerfull camera, but it is sad that canon did not update the firmware to have more options like the Auto ISO limitation that exist on the 60D or the quiet shooting that is possible only by liveview...
Pros: Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Missing features/settings

A simply great weapon

I've been using other Canon DSLR cameras like the EOS 30D, 60D, 550D, and 600D. They say it's better to invest in your glass than your camera body; but I did not regret getting the 7D at all -- it's totally awesome.
I especially love the AF system, it's just brilliant. The ISO performance is also not bad at all, if compared to other crop-sensor cameras. Although I use the camera for mostly events involving my friends and family, I go into sports sometimes and the 7D has helped me a lot; its 8 fps burst rate is just great. The only drawback to the camera is that it's got no audio control which can be found in both the 60D and 600D. That's the only reason why I can't wait for the new firmware which will be released soon which will, if it's really as good as they say it will be, make this camera a perfect weapon.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, Superior build quality, easy to use
