Amazing Camera

Two days ago was probably the best day of my photographic life. It was the day I got my 7D. Being a huge fan of the XSI, I wasn't quite sure how I could do better because am lucky enough to mount two of Canon's excellent L Lenses to the XSI giving it what I always, and still consider amazing image quality. When I took the 7D out of the box, my hands started to shake. The build quality is awesome. The camera is not too heavy but substantial. The ergos are excellent and it fits beautifully in my hands. That was just the begining. I put on my 24-70mm f2.8 L lens and snapped my first pic. Wow, the sound sent chills don my spine. A totally different sound than I had ever heard. It screamed quality. The best part was yet to come. Seeing the picture on the LCD made me wonder if the picture was actually that amazing or if the LCD was playing tricks on me. It was the pic, cause it only got better when it was opened in Digital Photo Professional. The camera made me realize what an L lens can do. Amazing colors and clarity even at high ISO. Canon, you outdid yourselves. Thanks for the 7D. I'm sure everyone put in a lot of time and effort to deliver us this kind of quality at an amazing price. I'm with Canon for life.
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Nice features/settings, quiet, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, balanced, weather seals
Cons: Complicated controls/menu

Upgrade from a 50D and 5D

I've been using the Canon 50D and the 5D for almost a year and decided to upgrade. Two choices came to my mind, the 5DmkII or the 7D.
With the price difference and budget, I decided to go for the 7D. I had the opportunity to use the 5DmkII on a concert shoot and I have been satisfied with the shots. But money would be an issue. Then a friend of mine have me try his 7D with the updated firmware. I has really happy with the results of the photos taken from the 7D.
After a long debate and thinking, I went to get a 7D. I think I made the right choice when it comes to quality of photos taken, it is very similar end results.
I decided to get a new L lens with the $1,000.00 difference.
Since I always think of investing on lenses than in the body.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

Best upgrade ever!

After using the Canon Rebel XT for years, I was looking forward to a much needed upgrade. Initially I looked at the 50D, but when I saw the features of the 7D; I couldn't resist. It's been the best purchase I've ever made. I shoot a lot of indoor sporting activities (e.g. volleyball, basketball, dance) and use fast f2.8 zoom lenses; but it's the ISO speeds of 1600 and higher with minimal noise which has allowed me to use faster shutter speeds to really capture the action.
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, quiet, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, good battery life, full featured

A Fine Piece of Equipment.

I had a 50D and upgraded to the 7D. What a step up in IQ! The new and improved AF system is awesome. I have 2 golden retrievers and it is dead on everytime were out playing. The noise levels at high ISO is very low and makes for usable images. The wireless flash system works well to although I dont really use it yet. Its build quality is rock solid and feels like a solid piece of equipment. The weather sealing works good, had it out in a snowstorm and water was running off the camera and it never missed a beat. I would strongly recommend this camera for anyone wanting a more professional type of setup.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, great 1080p video
Cons: none!

Performance worth the price

I have been useing the 7D every day for about a month and could not be happier. The wireless remote flash is a welcome feature since I primarly shoot weddings. The 19 point AF has worked flawlessly with my L's and my cheaper lenses. I have noticed better IQ when shooting in sRAW except where I need very large prints, this is where 18MP really shines. I think it is hard to compare the 7D with any of the xxD series line and believe time will show Canon has created a camera in its own class.
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, super wireless flash remote

Great Camera

Had the EOS 7D for 4 years and loved it. The camera met and exceeded all of my expectations on every level. In studio or in the field this camera hits the mark. I recently went to Washington DC to shoot architecture and fell in love with the camera all over again. Decided to shoot everything in live view and every shot was perfect.
Unfortunately, my camera and all of my lenses were recently stolen so I am starting over. My awesome wife got me started again by suprising me with a new EOS 6D. Starting a new chapter now but I will always miss my first Canon. If you are thinking about this camera don't hesitate on the purchase. The pros outweigh the cons 10 fold.

Great Camera

This new offering in a new segment for Canon makes a very strong entrance. The build quality is superb. Feels very solid in the hand. The mechanisms sound refined, not clunky like my old Rebel XT. The beautiful rear display has to be seen to be appreciated; it looks so "close" to the surface. The 100% viewfinder is also beautiful to look through. Great overall and worth the price.
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, quiet, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use
Cons: Heavy/Bulky

Awesome Camera

I upgraded from an XSi, also a great camera, but after using the 7D in store for only a short while, I knew it would bring my photography to a whole new level.
I didn't blindly rate the 7D 5 stars in every category, I really think it deserves it. In terms of features, the 7D is probably Canon's flagship. This thing feels like a testbed of new tech, and it really brings a lot of useful gadgets to the table. I especially like the orientation-aware AF setting mode.
In terms of performance, the AF is fast, the viewfinder display is excellent and unobtrusive, and the shooting speed is epic. Image "noise" should be renamed "grain" when you shoot with this camera; it's there, but the subtlety is excellent (if you have realistic expectations).
The video mode is also excellent, and well through out. However, I would've liked to see Tv and Av modes enabled (you can do auto or manual, with Auto ISO on either) and there is the rolling shutter artifact that plagues all CMOS video systems. But it's still a great feature.
The camera is complicated to use to its fullest, but the main shooting controls are the same as other pro-series EOS cameras, so no major complaints. Once you get used to it, everything flows nicely.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation
