Awesome!

Just upgrade from 500D/T1i to 7D. All my L lenses now feels and look more balanced with 7D body. I used to have to use Battery grip to balance my t1i with L lens, not anymore with 7D. The magnesium body in 7D also feels more rigid and solid. The focus is much faster, viewfinder is much bigger, brighter, and 100% view. All pro functions are included, high ISO noise is more controlled even with larger resolution. It's much easier to focus on life view as it can be done by half pressing the shoot button. Shooting video is a breeze and can record stills while shooting video too. I just wish it's a full frame!
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Solid Operation, good battery life

Terrific Camera

I have owned this camera since October 2009. At first I was disappointed due to poor quality RAW in Photoshop. But once Adobe updated their Camera RAW software for this camera, I have been nothing but amazed at the sharpness and color and clarity this camera captures. I use a Canon 16-35 L lens (first generation of this lens) as well as a Canon 70-200 2.8 L IS lens. The 16-35 is my main lens and the images are just an order of magnitude better than they were on my older Canon 30D. If you're still using a xxD camera and you have the money, upgrade! The only thing I would add is increase in-camera sharpening -- I took mine to the max setting and it has paid off very well in the increased image quality.
Pros: quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

How about a firmgrade upgrade addressing Auto ISO?

--- Most things being already said and kown I would not repeat them. Bottom line, as far as I am convcerned:: excellent AF system, very good customisation possibilities, image quality could be better.
--- I am writing this review hoping that Canon might address following issue in future firmware upgrade. This is about Auto ISO. It is a pitty that 7D misses some configuration methods for this functions.
--- First, when in M program, one can set aperture and shutter speed and camera will adjust ISO to get the optimum expusure. This is fine. Unfortunately the evaluative metering of 7D is far from good, there are many situations when you cannot rely on it and you need to compensate AE. It would be perfect if the user would have some possibility to dial in some AEC in such a situation. Maybe in next firmware upgrade?
--- Second, when using Auto ISO in AV or TV, camera tends to adjust shutter speed or, respectively, aperture to certain numbers, then it begins to adjust ISO in order to obtain the needed exposure. It would be fine if the user could setup those limits for shutter speed and aperture.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, excellent customisation
Cons: Missing features/settings, poor ae in evaluative metering

This site named "PhotoFramd" has a wealth of good 7D information. If you have read some of the comments about soft focus, they have an article there that is almost certain to help. I do sports photography and often need auto focus. This replaced my aging 20D.

I got this for a trip to Africa and couldn't get it away from my wife. We both loved it. The controls were intuitive and easy to remember. Image quality was fantastic. The camera stood up to all the dust, dirt, and rain Africa threw at us.
If you're looking for a professional camera do yourself a favor and look at the 7D.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

Canon 7D... I like it!!

I have owned the Canon 20D, 30D and now the 7D. No comparison the 7D is way ahead. The features and ease of use and image quality is top notch. Unless you are going for full frame, like the 5D Mk II this is the camera. Extremely fine low light focusing and image quality. The HD video is crisp and clean and easy to use. I am more than satisfied with the 7 D.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

Excellent Camera

Purchased my 7D 18 months ago and was my first DSLR camera; previously only used compact cameras. This camera has grown my interest in photography from a hobby to now an obsession and offers relevant features for every level. I have taken 15k+ photos with this camera and created pictures that are treasured by family and friends. I now primarily shoot RAW in Manual mode and shoot everything from my kids outdoor sports and nature to poor/harsh lit indoor sports/activities. My favorite lens is 70-200 2.8 IS and I love being able to use my 580ii speedlites off camera with the 7D as the controller. The interface to use this camera is very user friendly and the ability to customize all the buttons makes shooting very logical. The more I dig in and challenge this camera the more pleased I am with it. The various focusing options are terrific - love AI Servo mode once I understood how to use correctly. Having 19 cross type sensors gives a lot of flexibility with accuracy and the metering system is reliable and consistent. White balance is good but shooting in RAW I don't pay much attention to this - I use Aperture 3, Lightroom 3 or CS5 for image processing (depending on what I am trying to accomplish). Build quality is very solid - living in Oregon the rain has tested this camera and L lenses many times shooting outdoor sports. The 18MP sensor offers great resolution and color accuracy while allowing ability to crop and maintain details. I notice an occasional pixel misfire but this is very easy to fix.
The video capabilities of the 7D are amazing and is an area I am just getting really into. My biggest challenge with this camera now is deciding to shoot photo's or video.
I am very happy and strongly recommend this camera.
Pros: Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Superior build quality

Great camera

I upgraded from a 50D and found the quality of the photos to be significantly better than those taken with the 50D. Initially, I found the auto-focus feature to be a somewhat difficult to use. However, after working with this feature for a short time, I found this feature to be one the the better new features on this camera compared to the 50D.
The controls and menu system are easy to navigate and use.
The 100% view finder is a great improvement over the view finder in the 50D.
Overall, a great camera - you won't regret owning it.
Pros: Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu
