Great buy

The Canon 7D is a great camera. It shoots 18 mp stills at 8 fps and record full HD video at 48 mb/s. It has a full metal body, and supports a compact flash slot for faster image/video storing. One thing people dislike about this camera is that it's not full frame. My responce: It's not ment to be full frame. This camera is for sports photographers that need that 1.6x zoom.
Pros: great build, fast fps, compact flash, great video quality
Cons: no manual audio

Superb build quality

I had a long and hard decision between the 7D and 60D. At the time the price difference was quite big and the everyday used features had to sway it. For me: the build quality, almost full-frame, weather seals, program functions, custom functions, fast burst rate, range of accessories and single digit model number sealed the deal.
I also own a 30D and the 7D is a great step-up.
Pros: excellent build quality, weather seals, full hd video, very fast shutter, high iso
Cons: accessories not compatible across models

Good Camara, Soft focus

I really want to like this camera, I love the size and all of the innovations and improvements. I am currently using a 1D MKIII, I have been through all of the focus issues with the 1D and still am not satisfied with it, I have been using the center focus point in AI servo on the 7D and have felt the Auto focus is as good or better than the 1D. The only issue I have with the 7d is that the Images do not seem to be crisp, a softness to them that gives them a sort of OOF look. Also I am seeing a lot of noise at lower ISO's that I should not be. Not sure if this can be fixed by Canon but I hope so, I really like the Camera. There may be some settings that are causing the image issues but I have not figured it out yet.
Pros: Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, easy to use, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life
Cons: Poor image quality, noisy

Fast, but sloppy.

This is a nice camera. Granted, it is 2018 and it has terrible low-light performance compared to many SLRs now, so I will review it as if this was recently after purchasing it:
This camera is quite quick, and has a good selection of AF points and AF point control. The packed 18MP crop sensor is great for macro photography if getting as close as you want simply isn't an option, and is also great for well-lit wildlife photography. For the price it has a good burst speed rate too.
This camera really lacks in low light performance and struggles to focus properly... it tends to back-focus and front-focus as if struggling to really see the main subject. Don't push it passed ISO 1600 or you'll be disappointed most likely.
I'd recommend it as a backup, which is what I bought this for, but not as a main unit. This would be a great starter camera for a serious enthusiast, as it is better than the Rebel lineup.

20D image quality was better

I have owned a Canon EOS 650, a EOS 20D, and now a EOS 7D. I was very satisfied with the first two Canons, but I am not very happy with the picture quality of the 7D. I rarely get a good quality action picture of my son playing soccer. I have the 100 - 400mm L lens and have also tried to get a better quality picture with my 75 - 300mm lens. The quality just is not there. I believe my 20D shoots a higher quality, as in in focus, sharper picture then my EOS 7D. I often wonder if this camera was dropped or something during shipping. Something just doesn't seem right for the money I spent on the camera.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu
Cons: Poor image quality, image quality terrible, action image no good
