Excellent step up!

I have been a Canon shooter for years. A little over a year ago I wanted to step up from my EOS 50D and debated between the 5D II and the 7D. I settled for the 7D and I'm glad I did. The quality of the pictures has been great. Paired with the battery grip and my 24-70L2:8 and 70-200L2:8 IS lens, I get excellent pictures. I shoot a lot of rail photography as well as landscape and wildlife photos. I have never been dissapointed in the quality.
Pros: quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: none

The 7D rocks

I have had 3 canon cameras in my life. Ellan II E, the XT,and now the 7D. Wasnt sure what to think when I got it, but I must say I was blown away. The 7D is like the race car of the canon DSLR's. The frame rate is very fast and the AF system is just a joy to use. The jump from the other two cameras are just stunning. The 3 inch LCD is like looking at a high end TV. There was a bit of a learning curve, but like anything else time and learning from your mistakes will over come that. Over all I really can not say anything bad about the 7D other then I wish I had it sooner then I did. I think the thing I like most about the 7D is that you can take 1080 HD video and the live veiw mode works great. But the speed is break neck quick. Thanks canon., great job.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, fast
Cons: not a good 1st camera

Buy It For The Speed, Keep It For The Quality...

Fantastic Camera, Tremendous speed. I have been a long time Canon shooter and this purchase for me takes the cake. I love the Auto focus performance especially in AI Servo mode. Being a fitness photographer I tend to need a fast shutter and even in lower light settings with a 2.8 lens the 7D still shines.
The write speeds of the Dual Digic 4 Procs are very noticeable when combined with UDMA cards its a combo that cannot be beaten. Its the perfect body for those that cannot afford nor need a Full Frame like the 5D mkII. Its a bit pricey, but you get over the sticker shock real quick when you start to shoot with it.
This pro is very impressed with a tremendous camera!
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, fast write speeds, quick burst rates
Cons: Heavy/Bulky, pricey

I should have picked this up sooner

I took my first photo's indoors and was amazed at the speed, performance and clarity of the camera used indoors.
This was a major upgrade from my first digital rebel ds6041.
Took some macro shots with my 300mm f/4L lense and the details are just fantastic.
If you currently own a Rebel I think this camera should be your next upgrade.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Superior build quality
Cons: non yet.

Well done, Canon!

I bought my 7D about six months ago as a companion to my 5D. I wanted something with micro-adjust focus, fast reliable autofocus and a fast frame rate for sports. The 7D has turned out to be everything I expected. No problems at all with the camera.
My only frustration, and this applies to all my DSLRs, is that it is difficult to find lenses that focus accurately with each camera body. The current autofocus method is prone to all sorts of problems involving the way the lens and the camera body work together. You won't notice it if you are using smaller apertures like those in the consumer zoom lenses, but if you want to use prime lenses wide open it becomes a big issue. Sorry Canon, just my pet peeve!
Anyway, if you are looking for a great crop-sensor camera, you can't go wrong with the 7D!
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD

Best Eos XX Dslr yet
on October 27, 2011

I've owned every model of the EOS Dslr XX in the1.6 imager line from the original D30. That first model just blew me away at the time even though it had a number of major flaws.
I liked almost every model since but frankly they offered just evolutionary changes and my reaction to them ranged from ho-hum to "hey that's not too bad". My reaction to the EOS 7D is more in line with my first purchase of the D30. WOW!
Here is my list of what I think are the really great improvements
Fast and accurate auto focus, really good image quality up through 3200 ISO, bright 100% of field viewfinder, quality build (although the earlier models weren't slouches in this area), and video.
Just a more revolutionary camera than evolutionary.
Did I mention I really really like this camera?
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, fast auto focus, video too!

I'm not a professional photographer.
I've had my EOS 7D for a year now and I love this camera.
I use my 7D for home and work every day and it's been a real trooper.
This is the best camera I've ever bought so far.

Incredible DSLR
on February 25, 2012

I purchased my camera 2 weeks ago. When incredible pictures it takes! This was a huge step up for me from the Canon SX30. The shutter speed is wonderful. I can need get the speed I want for action shots. I capture shots and see details I missed with my naked eye wiht the fast speed. The depth and detail are superb and at this price point. I have already highly recommended the camera to many. I am a loyal Canon customer and this is my 5th Canon.
