My father tought me how to take a picture more than 20 years ago, ever sicne, I was fascinated by the art. everything I saw, was a suitable interesting spot, I got my 7D after months of savings, my first was a 350D used, no matter what the conditons, she alwasy gets what you saw through your eyes, fast, userfriendly, intuitive, not for begginners, don't tell my wife what the price was.

I've been impressed with the EOS-7D since buying it, but it wasn't until I started attending a photographer's class (adult ed) that I realized just how much camera my money had bought me. Canon has provided tremendous value in this extraordinary camera.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
I would recommend this to a friend!

Love this camera. I had the XSI and upgraded to the 7D while I was still taking photography classes. Superior quality built and excellent image quality. The LCD is bright and the features are great with very simple control menu. Very quiet when you take a pic will not scare off whatever it is your taking pictures of in nature. Starts very fast, solid operation and kind of easy to use. You do have to know how to use this camera, classes help. Not lightweight so be prepared. With different lens weight is heavier still. Battery is great, only charge when I remember may go months.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Difficult to use, Heavy/Bulky

Disappointed purchase

I purchased the Canon 7D in March to replace my 50D. I thought by waiting - most of the early criticisms would find their way into a bit bucket (fixed). My initial reaction was - wow! nice equipment. I looked at my first shots and again - wow! As I got more into this camera I started to compare against my 50D, my 30D and my 300D shots. I began to see some issues with soft focus, lack of detail, noise. I do shoot RAW so I am used to working the noise out but at ISO 200? I began to blame my lenses. I did microadjustments, I upgraded my processing software, I applied the latest firmware fix. I even bought a new lens. In the best conditions the camera takes a great photo, but let a little shadow or shade or distance come into the play - poor or mixed results. The main issue I have is the lack of consistancy. Good shot, bad shot, so-so shot, etc I have requested a authorization from Canon to repair the camera but I am not sure if I need to send my lenses as the ones that perform the poorest are L glass. Duh?
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Poor image quality, noisy

Great new features

I purchased the canon 7D as an upgrade from my 50D. I glad the put all the necessary features that makes it easy to use.the camera have a great design and feel.So far the issues I encountered might help others to check their 7D if they have the same issues with mine.I bought the 7D last week and i encounter some problems with the liveView mode on manual setting in certain light conditions.I can see 3 faded brown lines or shadows across the LCD while at video mode.it also moves from the bottom up.So i went back to the store and have it replaced. Now i have a new 7D on my hands and tested it on the same conditions i had before and guess what?! it happen again. Is this a batch problem with canon?i dont know? still trying to get some answers if this is a defective camera or what.I would still get this 7D.I want canon to resolve this issues. it also can be seen on myplayback,so I'm assuming it's the sensor.Somehow the flouriscent light in my room affects the sensor in manual setting in video mode.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, easy to use
Cons: issues on liveview in certain light situations

Be Warned

Too many units out there with soft focus issues. You are playing Russian Roulette when you make a purchase. There are units that work fine right out of the box, and those that leave professional photographers scratching their heads. Your warranty and dealer return/exchange policy should be placed in a safety deposit box after making the purchase.
Cons: some units have soft focus issues, customer service attempts to convince you that it

Fantastic action camera

Fantastic camera for those who know what they want. I could not be happier to see revolutionary improvements from my Rebel XSi, in terms of focusing speed and accuracy, ergonomics and image processing power.
A few other observations
Battery life. It consistently runs over 1,200 shots on one charge, just enough to fill my 32GB CF card with RAW. Live view model and video usage will cut this number dramatically. Video only mode can get ~30 minute 1080P/30fps on one charge.
IQ. It can't beat 5DM2 for portrait tasks, especially in low light. But shots taken @ISO 200 during a wedding came almost indistinguishable to my pro friend
Weight. Not big deal to me but just enough to discourage my wife - female uses might want to take note
Video. The results are very impressive, but usability is poor. Do it with at least a tripod and external mic. Otherwise it's easy to shake when zooming/focusing, and mechanical sounds, including the lens zoom/IS noise, always show up in the recordings.
Lens. Due to higher pixel density than 5DM2 it requires L grade glass to get full resolution, otherwise consider using M or S modes - save you from wasting card/disk space.
JPEG. Stunning quality straight off the camera. Don't waste time converting RAW on a computer unless you are making a poster, your lens has significant distortion and/or aberrations, or you need the 1EV headroom for highlights
Pros: consistent and fast focusing, 8 fps, very ergonomical, near pro build quality
Cons: none
