Great All Rounder

One of my favorite cameras so far, the 7D has nearly all the features you could possibly imagine; 18 megapixels, 8fps shooting, ISO 12800, and 1080p video. It has a similar feel to the 5D Mark II, but it includes a pop-up flash and has faster continuous shooting in place of a full-frame sensor. The camera has held up in heavy rain, dust storms, and hard use. The controls are rather complicated and are not suitable to beginner photographers, but for the advanced amateur looking to step up from the Rebel cameras or the proffessional who needs a rugged, do-it-all camera for an affordable price, there is no better option than the 7D.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation
Cons: Complicated controls/menu

A Little Dissapointing in low light !

Really wished this was a 16 or less cmos, such a pc of machinery with such advancement and high tech with such a dissapointing sensor. don't get me wrong is excellent as long you have a bright a sunny day or if using studio strobes for capturing rich colors and details, but if light is dimm forget it, and the biggest problem is that i havent been able to solve/supress the noise with in camera proc. or dpp or lightroom or adobe camera raw and none can't resolve the noise issue. most images i had taken in low light are not crisp enough to be keepers, even my rebel xsi noise is easily suppressed. canon try to put auto iso limiting or bracketing please, i wont dare to go over iso 1600 while the noise issue can be solve !
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation
Cons: Missing features/settings, noisy

Disappointed to say the least

The only reason I bought this camera was because of the size, I originally had the T2i and I loved it, took great pictures. I didn't expect my pictures to be any better since it's the identical sensor as the T2i, but I did expect them to be the same, and they are not.
I know a there are a lot of so-called explanations like 'you're shooting with too slow shutter', or, 'your lenses aren't good enough', or, 'You don't know what you're doing' it goes on and on. But the simple fact of the matter is, this camera cannot take sharp pictures. They look fantastic in the viewfinder and preview, but in RAW, they look absolutely soft. Sure, you can correct for SOME of that in Lightroom or DPP, but come on..they look like really bad even in comparison to my T2i.
I've done all the tests, checked for focus issues, it's in focus just soft.
Pros: size, features, build quality
Cons: photo quality
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great Camera

You can shoot great images with this camera you just have to know how to use it. I have great, clear, shape images I have changed settings on the camera. I am using a 28-135mm and I can tell you I have very sharp stand out images that look beautiful. The menu on the camera is easy to use, if you read the manual otherwise it might be a little difficult for first time users. the only cons are that this camera is noisy but that's okay because I really wasn't expecting it to be quiet. It isn't light or small but once again that is fine I didn't buy it to be under a pound. overall you have to play with this camera and get use to it before buying it. I highly recommend going to a store that carries this camera and using it before you purchase it. This might be the camera for you but it might not. Overall this is a great camera that can give you shape or soft pics depending on how you want to use it. This is not a camera for beginners, this is not a point and shoot, this is a camera that will give you great photos if you know how to use it or take the time to figure it out.
Happy shooting...
Pros: excellent image quality, Superior build quality, easy to use
Cons: noisy, Heavy/Bulky

TERRIBLE Focusing Issues
on August 15, 2010

All I have to say is, "Go ahead and google the term 'Canon 7D focusing issues' when you get the chance." Enough said. Don't take my word for it. Take the points of views and opinions of users, as they talk about the focusing issues I have experienced since day ONE with my Canon 7D.
PRO: The HD Video is great..!!
- Just a NY Pro
Pros: add a pro
Cons: add a con

Solid camera, but won't work for me
on May 28, 2010

I purchased one of these about 3 weeks ago and was not at all pleased with the metering inconsistancy in brightly lit scenes. So I returned it, got another and well...same problem. If you're just taking snapshots or family photos the camera is fantastic. It also works well in shaded scenes. But I sell thousands of pictures of kids playing youth sports. I didn't need a portrait camera...my 5D Mark II is perfect for that. I replaced my 40D simply looking for a little better performance in low light, but mostly for the extra FPS rate.
The meter is terribly inconsistent in bright scenes.. I'm now going to end up replacing the 7D with a 50D. Wishing I hadn't sold my 40D already, but I've never experienced anything like this before. Normally a new product out erforms the old one. This one does, in most instances, but too many shots are unusable. I guess I should just suck it up and move up into the 1D Mark IV.
You guys have got some work to do with that new metering system of yours.
Pros: quiet, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Solid Operation, easy to use
Cons: inconsistent meter

Video Shutdown
on July 9, 2011

It's sad that a camera like the 7d would cost so much and only able to deliver on half its hype. I've had the 7d for over a year now and every single time I try to use video, the camera shuts down every few minutes. This was never mentioned in any marketing I saw before I purchased the camera. I had to find out the truth from reading massive numbers of reviews that nearly everyone has the same problem...this is truly horrible.
Pros: quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD
Cons: Shaky operation, Complicated controls/menu, video shuts down after a few minutes
