Loose the white box.

The 7D is a great idea and could be very versatile if Canon would have an option for disabling the white box in the LCD screen that also goes out with the connections. This is a very bad design.
The rest of the camera is up to Canon's standards.
Cons: Missing features/settings

I began school in Boston for photography and at the time the 7D was the 'new guy on the block' - a step down from th 5D Mark II everyone was raving about without the price so decided to give it a try. Instantly I became inseperable from it. Amazing handheld capabilities, intense sharp quality even with a mediocre lens. I captured crystal clear photos of the Blue Angels performing while on a boat while simply point and clicking - no tripod or anything. Tons of options but very simple (once you get the hand of it). Unfortunately I had to sell it and I have been yearning for it back ever since. I'm not sure what other Canon cameras can camera but I am definitely sold every time on this fellah.
Cons: Heavy/Bulky, flip lcd screens always make everything easier

Can't focus
on December 22, 2011

Had camera for almost 2 years now, focus is pretty completely luck. I thought it was handler error for a long time, finally sent it back for servicing, still front/back focuses. Doesn't matter the settings, lighting, or subject - will even struggle to focus with a still subject under bright lighting. If I had the money, I would definitely trash this thing and get another body - very disappointed.
Cons: poor focus, high noise

CAN'T GET SHARP PHOTOS
on March 7, 2010
Posted by: DUGGY
No matter how I try,on a very sturdy, highend tripod,auto/manual focus,with/without zooming into live view to focus.With/without flashes.With/without mirror lockup. All sorts of shutter speeds/f-stops,with 10 sec delay,etc,etc,etc...With the supplied EF 29-135 lens and the newer EFS 15-85. I just can't get a tack sharp or sharp image. I've even tried focusing slight distances ahead and behind objects. ???
Pros: Nice features/settings
Cons: Poor image quality

crummy focus in low light @ f/2

1/500, 135L f/2, 1600 ISO, focus priority, central point spot focus yields 95% poorly focused pictures with very sharp back focus more than a focus point away. The other 5% of the pictures are superb on the exact same composition. Not a problem on 50D. Not a problem in better light. This is just a weird software bug.

focus crazy

focus varies from day to day and is usually off. though once in a while it is accurate. using the adjustments helps sometimes, though sometimes does not work at all. very bad when using it as a professional camera.

My Favorite Camera Yet
on May 14, 2011

from Wrentham, MA
Experience: a prize-winning bird photographer for ten years, using the 7D for over a year.
Given that I want the 1.6 crop factor for bird photography, this is, head and shoulders, the best camera I have used yet. Furthermore, the 1920x1080 video is perfect for use in slideshows, providing truly excellent video. The fast frame rate coupled with fast shutter speeds provides crystal clear flight shots. I love my 7D! My wife loves hers!
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable
I would recommend this to a friend!

Disappointed
on July 7, 2010

I purchased the 7D thinking I was upgrading from the 5D I had been happy with. I do mainly studio and outside portraits. The images from my 7D are not near as sharp as my 5D and are quite grainy compaired to the 5D especially with large groups. I keep going back to my 5D and using the 7D as a backup. I am very disappointed with the quality of the images. The camera operation and features are great but I can't get past the quality.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Bright LCD, easy to use
Cons: Poor image quality
