It was worth the wait

I have waited for years to purchase a digital camera. This camera was truly worth the wait. For people that want professional features at a affordable price, this is the camera for you. This is only the third camera that I've purchased over my 55 years. For those of you that don't want to read all of the technical details that so many people use in the photography world; I will just say that this camera will do 99.999% of most of us buy a camera for.
This purchase will make you very happy that you have a great photographic tool to enjoy for years to come.

Quality Build and Images

I had been running into more and more situations where clients had been yearning for slightly higher image output resolution than I was able to produce with my 40D. I was on the fence between the 7d and 5d but the 5d would have been an extra stretch financially at the moment. The biggest mental hurdle to jump with the 7d were the multitude of reviews I had read reaming the camera for soft images (possibly by other camera company employees?). I have all "L" glass and when combined with the 7d's ability to micro-adjust each lens specifically the result is tack sharp images.

While I was making up my mind on updating to the 7d or 5d a client actually rented me a 1ds MKIII for a weekend shoot for some outdoor images they needed. I have a hunch I will really like the 5d as my next upgrade, but I actually enjoy shooting my 7d more than the I did the 1ds MKIII. Didn't have much time to get the 1ds dialed in, but I thought the images were a little too warm in comparison.
Pros: great images., has many great features but more than i need.
Cons: has a higher iq than me.

Very hard to brat

I have had this 7D for over a year with nothing but great luck with it. I have gone through the all the rebel series, 40D, and 50D. Most all my lenses are now "L" series. I feel that I am ready for my next up-grade, however I would not take that step to a 5DII, or ID mk IV, or even the IDs mk III, because I am the happy with the 7D. I also do a lot of low light shooting, with excellant results (not all the noise that I see people write about). Maybe when the IDs mk IV (or what ever they will call it) comes out it will have something to offer that will cause me to move past my 7D. However until then This camera is very very hard to beat, at least for my needs. Don't even hesitate buy one, buy two.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, best all around perfomance and features
Cons: some people miss some of the auto settings

Tricky at First.

Superb camera. I use it primarily for shooting fine art photography and it is simply amazing. Amazing that is when shooting in full manual mode and paying attention to the focus points. Outside of full manual its pretty good for a non professional. To get the best out this camera you have to understand and use the full range of manual features. All in all it serves my needs perfectly. Would highly recomend it.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, easy to use
Cons: Heavy/Bulky, not for non-professionals

Best camera I have owned

I have owned a Canon for almost 10 years and I will always be a canon owner. I've had this camera for almost a month and it exceeds my expectations. One word of advice is to really go thru the owners manual and spend time learning all the features of this camera. Some people say they have problems with this camera, read the book and spend time learning what this awesome tool can do.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu

Go To Camera

I've been using my 7D for about 1 1/2 years now, and love it. My preferred shooting is fast action sports (i.e. Motocross, Hockey), & portraits. I have 2 cameras but use the 7D pretty much exclusively anymore..
Thanks Canon for giving us a product that finally outworks the price..

7D what a bargain

A great step up from my Canon T1i. Many more featured and a quality build. The video included with the camera "Introduction to the Canon EOS 7D" by Blue Crane Digital was a great help to master all the cameras functions and improve my skill.

Awsome Camera...Worth the Wait

Received the 7D as a birthday present. Have used it for a week. Very impressed with the camera. My other camera was an XTi Which was a good entry level DSLR. But specializing in motorsports photography placed extreme demands on shutter speed and auto-focus speed. Was going to upgrade to the 50D but the 8 frames per second and advanced auto-focus put an end to that plan. Very happy so far with the control layout, though it is completely different from the XTi. Will take some time to learn all the levels of control but well worth the time investment. This camera is perfect for the semi-pro to pro that can't swing a 1DS.
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation
