Love It

Camera was bought at the photo show, delivery was promised next week tuesday, got it the next day. Took it on a test run to RI and it performed great. Controls were easy, auto focus quick, love it so far. Printed some pics and they were great.
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

Way More Than I Expected

I've been a user of Canon cameras for many years this is the first DSLR I've purchased, film was what I have used. But I must say the 7D is the best it is easy to use size is great I have large hands I like the feel of it its just like putting on glove it work great. Wonderful picture cycle rate too, I started out with fast CF UDMA cards the only way to go. This will be my number one camera from now on, the film camera will be put rest for now. So if your looking Buy the 7D.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

Excellent upgrade to my camera selections

I have been using the 40D for a couple of years and have been quite happy with it. I do a lot of sports photography (hockey) and need a camera that focus's quick and can take a lot of successive images which the 40D did well. I decided to give the 7D a try basically because I was wanting an new camera and had been debating between the EOS Mark IV for and EOS 7D for several weeks.
Although I really wanted the Mark IV - my bill fold just would let it fit in and all of the reviews that I have read for the 7D actually shows it to be almost as good as the Mark IV so I decided to make the purchase of the 7D.
The first thing that I noticed when using the camera this past week end for 3 hockey games was the quick focus, and the excellent colors that it was reproducing. Once I downloaded them to my website - it was obvious that the improvement in the pictures was great.
Things I didn't care for - no included software to use, which was disappointing. It would have been great if Canon would have provided a software program to work with the video - now I have to go search around for software to process that with. After paying the price for this camera, and not getting software to work with the end product with is disappointing.
Pros: great camera - takes excellent pictures
Cons: no software provided to work with the video shots.

I LOVE it! I get more compliments on my photography and have found it relatively easy to learn, although I did buy some DVD's explaining its features and use in more detail. Learning it all takes time but made a huge difference. My work is in demand and compliments are ongoing. I'm loaning my camera to my son for a week, I miss it already! I LOVE my 7D and can't believe I parted with it, but I love my son almost as much : ) I have been a Canon owner for over 35 years, starting with the Canon AE-1. Don't hesitate...this IS the one to own!

I currently own a 30D. I was looking for an upgrade, and was torn between the 60D and the 7D. I opted for the 7D and for sports photography, it is great. Works wonderfully indoors. Love it.

Excellent Underwater

Outstanding for use underwater. Easy access to the primary features you need to use over and over. Fast focus locking and ability to track moving objects. This really helps when you're moving in the water and tracking fast-moving fish. A slow camera fails to deliver in this category. The 7D does not disappoint at all.
Pros: Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, fast focus lock-up
Cons: no continuous video focus

excellant camera

Had this camera for over two years. It goes everywhere with me. It has worked at Sub Zero temps hanging from my neck while I hike in mountain snow. It has worked at desert temperatures in the Summer. It never misses a shot.
Once I learned how to use the focus sensor for best use, I rarely have a bad shot, and the bad ones are user failures. Me experimenting with the settings usually.
I need more lenses to make this great camera more capable.
There is nothing I would change. Unless of course if it could weigh less.

Best Camera Purchase

I have owned this model for two years now and a few days ago it cam e back from a warranty repair (top dial was snagging the power switch and the JPEG/RAW button jammed).
Well it was awesome before but now, even more awesome. Things were definately different in many ways with a noticeable improvement in picture quality.
Why? Well, on further inspection it seems during the repair they updated it to the new firmware 2.0.4 which is a major upgrade with many additional features.
Recommendation: Check and update your Firmware if needed.
Criticism: I dont know how long this Firmware upgrade has been available but stumbled upon it by chance on Google. Canon could have publicised it or even emailed registered 7D owners (I am).
