The ink cartridge is GREAT! But... Way toooooooooooooo expensive! Next time I buy a printer, I will make sure the ink cartridges don't cost the price of the printer! Really disappointed in the price! The 60XL must be the most expensive cartridge for an average size printer. I must have bought 3 printers for the price of the all the ink cartridges that I have bought! I guess you live and learn!
I vary between Type 60, and 60XL, and have had problems with color failure at some point on both types. Generally, I can finish use of the cartridge though, with certain colors not looking quite right. Still, the cartridges give use until empty.
The XL didn't last as long as the regular cartridge.
Pros: Lightweight
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello,
I am sorry that the XL did not perform as expected. It should have lasted much longer!
It is possible that the cartridges have dried out a bit and just need to go through the cleaning process. Your printer should have an automatic routine to do that. Check the user guide, if you don't know how to start the cleaning.
If that helps, the printer might have been turned off using a power strip or switch. The printer should always be turned off using the power button on the printer itself. That will let the printer 'park' so that the cartridges are protected from excess drying. The drying can cause clogs in the tiny nozzles that spray the ink onto the paper.
If that does not help, it could be that the cartridge is defective, and you can contact us: hp.com/contactHP
