Purchased the new telo from Besty buy even before it was scheduled to be released. I can say I'm absolutely loving it. I've had only a cell phone for over 5 years. I was looking for some way to cut my phone bill. True this is an upfront cost. But even with paying $250 for this, then in two months $120 for premier service, it is still cheaper and will pay for itself within 5 months after I cut my cell phone. Yes a big up front cost but to me, I'll take it. Again it pays for itself withing 5 months for me. Another feature I'm loving is the multi ring. It rings at home, and my cell phone at the same time. Pick up either line. I plan on going with prepaid cell phones that way for emergency calls I can go ahead and pick up. All other callers will have to wait my return home for a call back. Again I will pay $13 a month for home phone service any day starting on year 2 & 3 & 4....
I did contact customer service twice, got through within minutes both times. The first representative was ok, not the friendliest. The second time I called, he was great. So overall no complaints from me.
What's great about it: No more $75 a month cell phone bill
What's not so great: Installation took a little longer than expected

After looking at all the math, the Ooma Telo is competitive with other VoIP providers but puts services like Vonage behind the times (Vonage even incorrectly lists my city in the wrong area code!).
After setting up my Telo and activating the features I began to realize there are some features I can't live without. First is the integration with my existing home telephone line. The Telo takes incoming calls from both VoIP and POTS and routes them appropriately. Long distance calls are automatically sent via VoIP while local go out over POTS. Second, the community blacklst. I can't say enough about this one. Anonymous Call Rejection from the phone company has serious limitations. Community blacklists and personal blacklists make virtually every call someone I want to talk to. Third, the instant second line (available when the handsets are out) will be a godsend to my busy household. I can even have my 2nd included number ring just one of the handsets (assuming you keep premier after the free trial).
So, costs being about the same for the first year, I can't see any reason why anyone would choose anything else. And I can't forget once my handsets arrive, I can get rid of my existing cordless phone system... definitely the greener way to go.
What's great about it: Community Blacklist, Instant Second Line, 2nd number included in Premium

I never got a chance to use this product because the power connector wouldn't fit into the unit at all. Every time anyone would touch the unit, the adaptor connector would come out.

Took me a week to properly configure the Telo. Out of the box Ooma recommends to place Telo between cable modem and home router. This configuration caused voice quality issues. Called Ooma and they recommended to place Telo after the home router. Once this was done the Telo was blocking internet to my desktop computer during a phoane call. Once again called Ooma and they recommeded a hard reset of the Telo which once completed finally fixed all issues and its been working like a charm since. My recommendation is to skip the recommended configuration and place Telo down stream of your home router.
What's great about it: Works very well once you configure the Telo conrrectly. Voice quality is same as landline.
What's not so great: Took me a week to properly configure the Telo.

The Ooma telo has been a true asset for me. Since I didn't foresee canceling home phone service I wanted to find a way to lower my bill. Initially I had minor issues setting up the device but the tech support people at Ooma were quite helpful with resolving my problem. The Ooma telo is easy to use and the instructions are very helpful. I have not heard any drop off on the call quality and people are able to hear me very clearly. There may be a slight time delay when someone talks to you on the phone but it's hard to notice sometimes. It's good Ooma offers the option of porting existing residential numbers to their system. Initial costs were the only significant costs I saw but I have trimmed at least $35 from my monthly home phone service.
What's great about it: Clear phone calls, future cost savings, phone number porting
What's not so great: Slight time delay between voice exchanges

We purchased the Ooma for our home and while it was easy to set up and use, the quality was horrible. While on the phone the person I was speaking with could not hear me, said that there was a delay when I spoke and calls dropped like crazy. I called the help number at Ooma and even that call dropped, they told me to call back on a cell phone, which was fine but we purchased the Ooma so we did not have to use our cell phones at home. I am returning the Ooma and would not recommend anyone purchasing this.
What's great about it: easy set up
What's not so great: sound quality and dropped calls

This is a good product that can save a lot of people bundles of costs on phone calls. I plan to continue to use it, and bought the Ooma Telo plus 3 Telo Handsets.
It can be a bit dicey to set up if you have anything beyond a super simple home network for Internet, and Ooma tech support is all Asian and usually only well trained in basic operation. I could not get clear answers - more than once. However the online user form is very good and the call quality is better than Vonage, which we had for several years.
Do not that if you get a second phone number with the Ooma service and also assign it to a Telo handset, you will only be able to use that number with that handset.
