Design of the player is the best I've ever seen. Easy controls, hub and wi-fi setup. Wish it was cheaper but I rather pay more for better quality and reliability.
Pros: Durable, Realistic color
I would recommend this to a friend!

As an older user I appreciate the ease of shifting from TV and DISH to running a blu-ray dvd in the device. Access to additional web sites like You Tube is a nice feature but one I probably won't use too often.
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Realistic color
I would recommend this to a friend!

Samsung’s BD-F5700 Blu-ray Player looks good with high performance features.

When I bought it I wasn't interested in the Wi-Fi as much as I just wanted a Blu-ray.
The Wi-Fi however, has some very handy features you can access from Samsung’s built in applications. I so far have been using You-Tube, and Pandora however, there are several movie services like Netflix, and Hulu to access from it as well as games etc… so in short nice feature that is extremely easy link up thru your router, no need for a computer to use these features, just turn on the player.
(Player runs only Samsung apps and Google search is not one of them on my model).
The player it’s self is again very simple to hook up, as well as operate, it delivers very clear images as expected by a Blu-ray.
So… I like it.
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Realistic color
I would recommend this to a friend!

So-so blue-ray
on May 28, 2015

I was pretty happy with the purchase until I noticed that it was missing certain apps. After spending about an hour looking for a way to add more apps, I came to the conclusion that it just couldn't be done. The Blu-ray picture is great when viewing DVDs but something goes haywire when we try to watch Netflix or Hulu. the program always freezes and the only way to reset it is to unplug for 30 seconds and then plug back in. Its a nice looking product but not really useful in a busy family room. I'll probably move it to one of the kids/guest rooms that don't see as much activity.
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Lightweight
Cons: Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

First Blu-Ray player

I was mainly interested in a simple BluRay player, not in the WiFi aspect of it. I was really surprised at the ease of setup with my household WiFi and the features (YouTube, etc) that were included. Usually these kinds of features are on more expensive models, especially if you don't have WiFi set up in your home (i.e., WiFi provided by the BluRay player itself). Works as expected. My only gripe is the button setup on the remote. I have several Panasonic DVD-Rs and am used to the intuitive setup of buttons on there (play, pause, stop, etc.) and think they could be better arranged on the Samsung. Also, I was disappointed that it is NOT POSSIBLE to step BACKWARDS in slow motion (i.e., step backwards frame by frame when in pause). You can ONLY step FORWARD. Why this is is beyond me, but I find it annoying. These are the only two cons I have with this player: the remote button layout and the lack of backwards frame-by-frame stepping. Also, perhaps this unit is TOO lightweight; I have almost knocked it off the shelf on several occasions.
Pros: Inexpensive
Cons: remote button layout, cannot step backwards frame by frame
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great features, but a little slow

This is a great product. It's a nice compact design and has plenty of options. It's a little slow when it comes to using the remote for typing. Other than it it works well. Probably doesn't have processing power due to lack of enough processors. I love the compact design because it's easy to not notice in the bedroom and unobtrusive that way. Keep it up Samsung.
Pros: Inexpensive, Lightweight, compact design
Cons: not enough processing power
I would recommend this to a friend!
