I love the Samsung all share software

I was thinking of buying a wi-fi media player when I came across this blu-ray player. I love all the apps especially the samsung all share. I have hundreds of movies on my laptop and I can now access them wirelessly from the blu-ray player and play them seamlessly on my T.V. And the remote functions work on the movies. (stop,play, fast forward,etc.)
I would recommend this to a friend!

Problems with streaming Netflix

I purchased this blu ray player last Thanksgiving. I was absolutely pleased with it until about 4 weeks ago when the firmware was updated and the device stopped streaming Netflix. I initially was sure that it was a Netflix problem but after about a dozen calls to Netflix and some research of my own on the internet I found out that I am in a very large group of people who are experiencing the same problem. I have reached out to Samsung for help with this issue and I have not had the problem solved. So now I am stuck with a device that won't stream Netflix which is the most highly app used on smart tv/wifi blu rays. I give it four stars on everytbing except performance and overall because of this issue. I cannot recommend this product unless you have no interest in streaming Netflix.
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Lightweight
Cons: software update causes problems, does not stream netflix after firmware update
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

My daughter has a tv with a built in DVD player that decided to stop ejecting discs so I wanted to get her a new player. She loves watching shows on Netflix and we have many movies with digital copies via Vudu, so, I needed a player that had both. I compared many models and decided that this one looked like the best for the money. While reading the reviews I did notice that several people had commented that the Netflix app was missing when the hooked up the player but I was not worried because the description promised it was there. Upon picking up the product I got nervous again because there was no Netflix icon on the box, but it didn't list any of the apps so I let it slide. Got it home and opened the box to find Netflix ads with the manual so I was relieved. Hooked it up and went through setup only to find that the Netflix and Vudu apps were not on the menu. I got really upset until I thought of something. This is not my first Blu-ray player and I know that they require a software update when they are first set up. After running the update all of the promised apps were there.

I wanted a wi-fi DVD to replace my defunct DVD player. I /really/ wanted to stream Amazon Video -- the single feature missing from this system. I already have the Apple TV for everything else. When I had everything set up I discovered that Amazon wasn't available -- shame on me for not doing my homework! Guess I'll be using my Apple computers to do this until Samsung can come through for me. Otherwise, it's just another little dvd/blu ray player. Nothing to get excited about.
Pros: Inexpensive, Lightweight
Cons: Did not meet expectations, no amazon instant video capability

Great Features, Lacking Execution

Got to say the product is wonderful. Its small, has a bunch of neat features included (DLNA, Netflix, etc).
Of course there is a but to it. The touch sensor buttons on the top for on, eject, etc sometimes doesn't work. Its iffy at least with the eject button, on works pretty good if anything its over sensitive. I don't use the other buttons on the top regularly so I can't commit on those. Also issues include the remote has similar issues, but the on/off button doesn't seem to work great and the eject button seems to be a hit/miss.
Pros: Inexpensive, Lightweight, small
Cons: some button issues

We use it to watch Netflix, YouTube, Pandora a lot. Especially Netflix. We used to use Chromecast for Netflix until we got this little Samsung unit. Now we use the Samsung ALL of the time. It's a lot easier to use than Chromecast - and my phone or tablet is not being tied up just for Netflix. The Smart Wi-Fi has never failed and connects instantly. And Blu-ray looks fantastic.
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Realistic color, Lightweight, fast and reliable wi-fi

I'm very pleased with this. I would like it if it had the Amazon App as well, but it does have Hulu and NetFlix. I've always had great success with Samsung. I did need to upgrade my Router for the streaming WiFi. WiFi works GREAT!
Pros: Inexpensive, wifi, apps
Cons: would like more/the ability to add/ apps
