temperature in fridge too high

I bought this unit about two weeks ago, and am finding that the top several shelves, along with all the shelves in the door, are only cooling to about 40-42 degrees - and higher still if I've had to open the door a few times.
Forget the "actual temperature" reading, which is ridiculously inaccurate. It's showing 33-34 degrees (as low as it goes), but I have four thermometers that strongly disagree.
FDA food safety guidelines state that perishable food should be stored below 40 degrees Fahrenheit. That means that I'm only able to safely use about 40% of the shelf-space for perishables. The other 60% can be safely used for drinks and condiments. Sorry, but I just don't use that much ketchup, folks.
GE: who cares about bells and whistles if your product can't do the one thing that it's supposed to do - keep food cold.
I'm going to call for service next week, but I have a feeling I'm going to have to send this back and go with something else.
Is anyone else having this issue?

Good but noisy

From the very first day we were annoyed by the sound of the compressor. We first thought it was because it is new, but no, it's constantly louder than the GE fridge we had before. We called for service and the mechanic told us that the new GE's are louder than the old ones due to a new "high efficiency compressor". Had we known, we would have not bought this fridge but kept our 10 year old GE that was running quietly in the background. No we're stuck with the noise level. So anybody who is noise sensitive should stay away from this unit. Other than that, we have no complains. Looks good, cools good.

Bad seal!

We just purchased the four piece set, and we are satisfied with the over the oven microwave, dishwasher and oven range, but we've replaced the refrigerator- freezer already. The seal on the first one was terrible and the second one was better but only slightly. I wished I would have gotten a different brand all together. The slate finish is the reason I chose GE. I'm starting to regret this decision.

We've had this appliance for less than a month and have not been satisfied the its performance. The cooling mechanism is not functioning properly. Excessive frost is developing inside the refrigerator and freezer.

I had this delivered July 31. Every day since, the buzzing from the compressor is getting louder. I know the HE compressors sound different but this is just bad. We can't take it anymore. It's going back for a refund. Too bad because it looks nice, but looks aren't everything. Probably go back to a Michigan manufacturer of fridges.

Door has a mechanism that keeps door open when you push it closed and we have a very cold vegetable area that is borderline freezing despite attempts to raise the temp.
