Horrible blu ray of an amazing film

I bought this at $6.99 with a $5 reward zone certificate and even that was too much to pay for this horrible release.
One of the most influential anime films of all-time, and its saddled with one of the most worthless blu ray releases ever conceived.
They've brightened up the film, which makes the dark, gritty tone subdued and less impactful. Their subtitled translations (which were spot-on on the DVD release), are laughably inaccurate and incoherent in places. And no special features on an anniversary release.
If you want THE release to buy for this film, track down the DVD, barcode 013138200495. It is far superior in every way, including accurate subtitles and great special features.

The movie is fantastic, but whoever made this BluRay, put zero efforts. All I can say is get the Japanese BluRay and keep the DVD. They are far more superior to this release. Any US release BluRay for Ghost in the Shell 1995 so far is garbage.

A Masterpiece

Feature: This movie is absoluetely stunning. It's smart, has a fascinating philosophy, great acting, amazing direction and a beautiful score.
Video: Not perfect, this being an early DVD, but the hazy look actually provides nice mood for the movie.
Audio: The acting is great both in Japanese and in English, but its somewhat unfortunate that the English is treated to 5.1 surround sound while the Japanese is left in stereo.
Bonus Features: Neh.
What's great about it: The movie is amazing. Every image is ripe with meaning, it brings about interesting questions, etc.
What's not so great: Only one special feature, that's a bit long and boring.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Got this movie after hearing all the great reviews and it was not that great. Visually a great movie but the story line was too much going in the short time they had, should have made the movie longer or just left out a bunch of stuff.
