The no visible elements & both top & bottom ovens being self cleaning, same size & both having broilers is a big plus.

We replaced a 25+ year old GE oven with this unit. Temperature regulation is much better than the old unit, but...
I've been told that you should not use the self-cleaning feature because of the potential risk that it can greatly shorten the life of the motherboard and other sensitive electronics that are part of every recently manufactured oven. I'd like to hear from GE that they have tested this and it's only a myth.

Also, we have experienced a few glitchy issues with the controls. At times, when both ovens are turned on, if you decide you want to switch from "Bake" to "Broil," at times you have to cancel one or the other ovens' setting and start over. This doesn't present a practical problem with regard to baking things, but it is an annoyance that shouldn't happen Sounds like some kind of logic problem in the software/firmware of the 'brains' of the unit. It's hard to nail down the sequences that cause these issues, but I will write down the sequence the next time it happens and call GE support. Also, I recall that there was one time when the oven light didn't come on until I cancelled the function that was underway, sorting of clearing it's memory.
While it's under warranty, I hope to be able to duplicate some of the issues mentioned above, and to confirm whether or not we should stay away from self-cleaning. My main concern is longevity of the oven. I hope it will last even half the life of our previous (motherboardless) GE double ovens.

Great Oven

I bought this less than a month ago and it works great. After the oven is off, a fan cools it down the oven quicker. I'm really happy with the product so far!

My insurance provided this oven for us and I am so glad they did. I like the porcelain shelves. They glide in and out evenly and I look forward to using the steam feature. Much better than my old oven.
