I bought scanner yesterday at a big box retail store. I have set-up the unit on my laptop without any difficulty. I plan to scan old photos and anticipate the final product will be as good as when I first took the photos many decades ago.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Wonderful Scanner!

This scanner is easy to set up and use. Already have restored several photos using the scanner and Adobe 6 Elements included with the package. Good performance, reasonable price. Would highly recommend for the casual user. Not meant for speed or volume work.

The machine does all that was asked of it, but with all of the whistles and bells operational, it is
painfully slow. I suppose this must be the payent for rescuing old slides from oblivion.

Another Excellent Epson Scanner

Epson makes excellent scanners and the V600 is no exception. On Mac Lion, the install was as easy as could be expected. Once the scanner was powered on and connected to the computer, the scanner appeared in the System Preferences Printer and Scan pane. The only action that I needed was to update scanner software.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought this to finally organize and distribute a lifetime of memories to the rest of my family. I plan to convert our slide collection, but also some unframed pictures. This should stop some arguments.
It promises to be exactly what I hoped it would be: easy to use, and of sufficiently good quality.

V600 - Great Scanner

My old Epson Perfection 3170 scanner would not work with Lion. (I'm using version 10.7.3) I bit the bullet and got the V600. It is working great. I did follow the instructions to download the latest software and install that instead of the software on the disc. All functions seem to work - so far I've done color and B&W scans and color slides. It works from Epson Scan, from mounting thru the scan section in System Prefs and from programs such as Photoshop CS5 and Graphic Converter. It will not work from Photoshop Elements 10.
I'm very happy with the speed of the scans. I do not understand some reviewers complaints regarding the slide holder - it worked fine for me and does not seem all that fragile.
Only complaint - the extra software (notably the OCR software) is only for Windows. How about a little more Mac support!!
