Does not workwill with Windows 11
on February 17, 2022
Posted by: frustrated V600
I bought this Photo Scanner a month ago and have had trouble getting it to work with Windows 11. I downloaded a different diver and crashed my new computer. I am going to install it on my old computer with Windows 10. I'll write another review if I can get it to work.

Verified Purchase:Yes
I have used in Epson perfection photo scanner for many years. When I found there were no drivers for my old scanner, I started looking for another photo scanner. Epson is the only company that makes a scanner, which will scan 8 x 10, 4 x 5, 4 X 5 negs / positives and other formats down to 35MM. I am happy with my new scanner. Thank you Epson your product is both well built and economical.

Nice

So after much research I settled on the V600. I'm glad I did. With nothing to compare it to I'll just say that it works very well. The results I get a very satisfactory. It's faster than I had anticipated too. The software is working for me as well though I don't use any of the correction features besides Digital Ice and I only use that for film other than Kodachrome...they don't get along.
A few things that need improvement:
Setting up to scan and using the software to full advantage took a while to figure out the first day. I spent about an hour getting everything right. But once that was done it was smooth sailing.
Also, it's hard getting the slides out of the holder. Maybe my fingers are to big or my nails not long enough but they are a bugger to lift. I've resorted to a piece of masking tape to pull them out by the mounts.

Good scanner; confusing instructions
on September 11, 2011

I've only had the scanner about 24 hours. My main reason for purchasing is to be able to scan 35 mm slides so that I can use the images in a PowerPoint presentation. It's actually working very well. The "confusing" instructions for 35mm slides are scattered throughout despcriptions of the 4 possible scanning modes; however, for the "Full Auto Mode" there is a special note in a box which says that 35mm slides can only be scanned in "Full Auto Mode." Since finding that bit of informaiton, scanning has been easy, and results are acceptable.
The Users Manual has an index. However, it's not useful. There are only 2 entries for slides, and neither reference is the one about the requirement to scan 35 mm slides in "Full Auto Mode." Epson should review the entire Users Manual for accuracy and clarity.

Good Scanner, software so so

I just set up my scanner. I did learn the hard way that it is much better to just scan the photos and do any adjustments, adding sharpening filters, color corrections, and especially not to use the dust removal tool at any setting. Results are much better obtained by opening a scan in Photoshop and adjusting from there.
The scanner does work very nicely!

Just what the doctor ordered to rejuvenate negs

After only a week of use, it's a bit soon toa rate the V600 at 5 STARS, but, I'll gamble that the features I haven't yet tested are as good as those that I've used this week. If the V600 works as well as my 12 year old "Brand X", which is still operating beautifully on my other computer, I will be very happy.
The TRUE reason that I bought the V600 is to convert hundreds of color and black & white negatives up to 65 years old, as well as restore a few fading color prints from the early 1950s.
Some of my 60+ year old negatives had never been printed, so it was a hoot to hit "preview" and see them appear in their original glory. Great job, Epson. I have already recommended this unit to my oldest son, while another son has purchased the Epson V330 and likes it, too.

Fantastic scanner

My wife inherited a very large collection of family photos, slides, and negatives. Some photos are from the late 1870s, and the slides date as far back as the early 1950s. So, we bought the V600 to reproduce the materials for the family. The set up was easy. The photos and the slides that we scanned turned out great. Photoshop made it easy to correct the color and to improve the image. The scanner is every bit as good as the reviews indicated.

Exactly what I wanted!

I've only had this scanner a couple of weeks but so far it is exactly what I wanted and more. It was easy to set up and is easy to use. I scanned some old faded negatives from back in the 60s and the color restoration is phenomenal. The photos look like they were just taken. I have had 2 other flatbed scanners of another brand but this one outperforms them both.
