This type of scanner is very hard to find. 11 x 17 bed. And at this price. Works very well and affordable

Had to replace an older Epson Scanner after many years of great service. This one is tops. Easy to use scanning everything from letters to photos to slides and negatives. Restoring old photos is a breeze with the ICE program. One button and it's done. Old photos looked like they were taken today with my digital SLR camera.
If you want an all around scanner at a great price this is the one for you.
I would recommend this to a friend!

High quality scans ... but

I would give it 4-5 stars but the software leaves a bit to desired. It is not very intuitive. You will scan and then there will be no option as to saving or printing. Sometimes it scans and then sits there. The software is VERY slow -- you scan and then wait, wait, wait and then sometimes you find there is a window hidden with the thumbnails -- it doesn't pop to the front. There seem to be multiple apps to do basically the same scan. Sometimes the front buttons stop responding and you have to power down. The manual is poor.
And there is no place to store the film and slide holder.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I've had this scanner for only two days, but can already say with confidence that it was WELL worth buying. HIGHLY recommended.
My color slides and negatives are being scanned as I write this, with already spectacular results, and I will sleep much easier knowing they are safely stored.
If you are only scanning to disk for viewing on a monitor, or making 4x6 or 5x7 prints, the Epson software does a good job. But if you are scanning for large format printing (A3+, 13 x 19 inch) as I am, then I would also strongly recommend the purchase Vuescan from Hamrick software. I've used it for a couple years now.

Outstanding personal/home business scanner since 2010!

I purchased the V600 back in 2010 to scan photos, positive and negative slides as well as create PDF documents of my personal and business records. This unit has made it through thousands of high-resolution scans, PDFs and continues to deliver to this day. I keep the drivers up to date which has helped sustain its compatibility through three (3) laptops I have owned over the last eight years. Mind you, there are most robust scanners which Epson manufactures and I dream of owning one day. But for total value for a personal use/home business function, the V600 is an ideal solution!

High-quality, low price

I bought the V600 to replace an aging V500 that would occasionally lock up and require a restart of services. I loved the quality and ease of use of the V500 and the V600 is basically identical; I scan to high-resolution TIFF format as my default. The only thing I'd love to see offered is for the software to split multiple reflective images (photos as opposed to negatives or transparencies) into separate outputs. More info on that...when I scan negatives or transparencies (slides) and I pre-scan, the software separates the images into multiple files when scanning. That seems like it would be easy to do with prints as well...it might make some mistakes, but it would provide a much faster way to scan five or six photos in one pass without having to cut them up later to save as separate files.
I would recommend this to a friend!
