I bought this scanner to scan the 1000+ slides that my Dad gave to me containing family pics that are 70 years old. I have been able to do that with great success due to the scanner!!!!!
I would recommend this to a friend!

I purchased it a few weeks ago and it took a while to get use to how things work.
Scanning slides I found you need to leave the size of the image and choose a higher resolution say 2400 dpi (or higher if you have room to store large files). Same with color negatives. B&W negatives are best at around 1200 dpi to keep the file size manageable. Don't forget to clean the slides and negatives! Dust will collect on them no matter how clean you think you space is unless you use a 'clean room' The software is outdated although the color correction and backlight features work OK I use other software to edit the scans.

I've never had a photo scanner before but this one is great! The biggest surprise is how easy it is to use especially when scanning 35mm negatives and slides. I saw slides that made me so happy that I never threw them out! I totally recommend this scanner!

Very good...but the software.

I have had a V600 for 5 years (my old one physically destroyed in an accident). They are great devices, hardware wise, but the software seems to be a bit strange at least as the defaults go. Functionally the software is fine but they do things like when you scan a PDF it defaults to put the scan into the photo folder.. just what I need - a bunch of invoices, purchase orders, catalogs or white papers in with my photos, the defaults all seem strange. As long as you know that and just check to be sure they did not select a weird default (there are about a dozen that bug me). it is a really good unit.

Great hardware - Klutsy software

I use it to archive about a 100 years of photos. Does great job restoring color and eliminating scratches, cracks and other results of aging. Software would not install on my Windows 7 Pro desktop, but works ok on my windows 10 laptop.

Outstanding Quality and Durabilty

I have owned the Epson Perfection V500 for over 5 years and it works just as well now as it did back then! I scanned over 60 photo albums using it. I am giving it to my mother, and I bought Epson V600 to replace it. Epson is such a great and reliable scanner -- I'm extremely pleased with Epson!
