Getting great results from this scanner. My settings for scanning slides are 3200 DPI and 48bit color. Sometimes the scans add large black borders to the pictures but not often. I re scan and all is good. Not sure what the issue is. This is a good scanner. Im not sure what a more expensive scanner will bring.

Fast scans and very good color/contrast

Okay - I've had this not even twenty-four hours, but I am very pleased w/this scanner. I know this V600 is an older design, but w/ the included SilverScan software, it is fast and the color / contrast is very accurate. I was struggling w/ an old V200 on a Mac. Didn't work well, even w/ third-party software. This V600 is reasonably priced and still available at the office stores. Besides the image quality, I like that the lid clicks part way open, I like that it comes online fast. I know it's an old machine, but it just works! I have some family photos that I didn't want to run through my document quick scanner. The extra effort this scanner takes is worth it. I haven't done any adjustments in SilverScan as all is working like I expect from the default settings. Bravo Epson.

I actually bought this scanner as a replacement for with the same capabilities flor the same one. I'd used it enough where I thought it was starting to wear out. I couldn't find any other scanner for anything close to the V600.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I don't know why I waited so long to get a scanner to digitize my negatives. The learning curve for this scanner is small and produces great images.

It's better than the all in one scanners that everyone is selling. I was disappointed in the ABBYY software. It was old and caused other problems. It would be nice if they included a decent OCR software with it.

The scans are phenomenal. I use it for film, photos, and for archiving things I find interesting. What I really wish Epson Scan 2 had was the ability to choose my out pixel size and inches for print output. Working with only DPI can get frustrating.
