Out of the box,easy to set up and install software.It scans fast and picture color and backlight adjustments so easy.I would suggest it to everyone.

Just hooked it up, slapped in a wonderful (but faded) picture of my wife from the early 70s. The tattered print scanned in about 5-6 seconds, I opened the 300ppi image in PSCS5.1 then clicked auto tone, straightened the horizon, cloned out some nasty spots, and, like magic, the picture looks like it was shot yesterday (not 40 years ago). The scanner is only 10 minutes out of the box. Not bad. Lots more to learn! Should be fun.

THIS IS AN AWESOME SCANNER IT HAS SAVED HUNDREDS OF MY PICTURES, FROM THE MID 60S AND 70S BOTH NEGATIVES AND SLIDES I HAVE RECOMMENDED IT TO FRIENDS AND THEY HAVE HAD THE SAME RESULTS JUST AWESOME

Delighted with hardware

I just replaced my 10 year old Epson scanner for a V600 photo and am amazed at the drastic improvement on all levels. I suppose 10 years is antique in digital time, but I was very happy with my first scanner. This does so much more and has so many more options I'm rescanning most of what I already had on file. I'm scanning slides and so far black and white film, and am very happy with the results. My only problem is with the scanning software that comes with the scanner. I use professional mode and have not been able to save my settings. Even working from the original preview scan, I have to reset everything each time. This is frustrating and time consuming. Of course there is other software available, but it would be nice if Epson's didn't do this as it's quite satisfactory in results.
I gave the unit a 4 star instead of 5 due to the software difficultes and also I would like to see the manual in downloadable pdf format.

AWESOME SCANNER

I started using the Epson Perfection V600 Scanner immediately upon receiving it. It works beautifully. I've scanned old photos and old 110 and 35mm negatives and it's done a very quality job. I'm so impressed with this Epson. I would recommend it to everyone.

Great scanner

I've been using my scanner for about a week now. I am very satisfied with it's simplicity and quality scans. I am scanning 35mm slides, 127 slides (2" x 2") , and 126 slides (instamatic). All are turning out very good using the automatic mode with the template. Sometimes I have to change the position of the 127 slides in the templete (sideways or upside down) to get a satisfactory image. I haven't used the photo shop or any other fix-it software because the results are good just with the automatic setting.

TAKE YOUR TIME

I admit I am a computer nerd. Every step must be spelled out or I get "lost". The Epson v600 is a great unit. However, absent specific detailed instruction, one is left to blunder along until you have found your way. I recommend new users spend time opening each and every one of the steps, investigate each any every pull down menu, take notes on there use and function i.e write yourr own instruction book. But once you get the hang of it the unit will perform up to or beyond .to your expectations

Scan soft did not work

Software (Scansoft) did not work on XP or Win 7 computers even after following the advice on the in the manual. Admittedly I need to play around with this again but have already spent too much time messing with it. If I had seen a similar product out there I would have returned it already and tried the other product. The scanner does work with the microsoft scanner software but I feel I only received about half of what I paid for.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
