Good Value, Works with Lion (Slight glitches still

I have had the V600 for one day now and have scanned a couple hundred medium format negatives directly into iPhoto, successfully.
I use with a MacBook Pro on OSX 10.7.2 (Lion). Once I figured out that I needed to access the scanner through the System Preferences, I was OK.
There is a slight glitch in that every once in a while either the scanner is not available or it doesn't give me the opportunity to select transparency scanning. When this happens I must restart my computer. This has happened about 5 times for the hundreds of scans, so it isn't too bad, but I'd like to see that little problem go away in future driver updates.
Overall I am very pleased.

Fabulous scanner

We ordered the V600 scanner for Christmas because we had so many old family photos that we wanted to digitize to save space at home. The scanner was so easy to install and I began using it right away, it was that easy!! I used the software that came with it and was able to tweak the photos and had them looking beautiful in no time. I plan on installing Photoshop also, but I know there's a learning curve with it so I started with the Epson software and had really good results. Our son-in-law has the V700 and loves it, but we have a more limited budget and are perfectly happy with the V600.

Love my Epson Photo Scanner

I've been using an Epson Photo Scanner for many years with no issues and great products. But my scanner finally died some months ago. I reviewed many scanners and many brands, read what lots of people had to say about their scanners. I bought another Epson Perfection Photo Scanner (V600) without hesitation! I love this scanner as much as my old one. I scan, copy, create pdf files and all without a hitch. I've used my scanner to scan old photos, damaged photos, 35 mm slides, and old (pre 50s) negatives all with great success. The old, large, odd-sized negatives had to be trimmed down just a bit to fit into the negatives holder but the results were fine. I wouldn't have a different scanner. I didn't buy the V700 because I didn't want to pay quite as much for that one, though it may have some features the V600 doesn't but I can't imagine it works any more satisfactorily than my V600. Keep up your good products, Epson!

Epson Perfection V600

A nicely designed scanner. This unit does a great job of scanning films of different formats, color or B&W. It has produced good reproductions from all my negatives dating back to circa 1949, even the reproduction of photographs.
It has a lid hinge holding stop at approx. 45 degrees, which allows you to stay seated without getting up to lift the lid to a full open position.
I highly recommend this scanner, which is at an unbelievable price for it's material quality, and reproduction quality.

This scanner is fast and the photo corrections are really good. The ability to use SD cards and a wireless connection would make it perfect. Also it advertised including Adobe Photoshop Elements but it is only a trial version. It should have been advertised as a trial.

Operation

Once I synched the Epson with new Lion Operating System, I enjoyed scanning slides first. I learned every time I begin a new scanning session, it defaults to a different mode. Not sure why. I find interesting also that each time I scan I have to hit "Hide Details" before it will scan. Not sure if this was intended but that is the case.Otherwise I think it does a great job.

My wife has had a V600 for some time and has been using it and the ICE features with excellent results for our famil archives. We have been scanning prints, positive slides and negatives in a variety of sizes with unbelievable results. The unit is so good that I have purchased this second unit for additional scanning of a wide variety of materials.
You wil not be sorry with this unit.
The only problem is that it takes a while to conduct the scans, so do not go into this in a hurry up state.
Do not look for me on social networks.

A scanner with all the bells and whistles

My ten year old Epson scanner finally died so I read a lot of reviews on line to find a good replacement. I am a graphic artist and web designer so I need a high resolution scanner. The v600 had great write ups and I liked the idea of LED lights for their brilliance and life. The setup was easy and I was surprised to get Photoshop elements included. A nice touch, but I already have Photoshop 5.5. it integrated well into Photoshop and Omnipage OCR program. I'm looking forward to experimenting with all the features, especially the slide and negative scanning. The speed of the scans is also a big plus.
