Epson V600 - a Great Scanner
on November 14, 2013

I just finished scanning thousands of slides - some were 40+ years old. It restored the color on most of them and got rid of dust motes with the Digital Ice Feature. Before using this scanner the slides had so many black dots from dust that I spent hours removing them one at a time with an editing program. While a few dust motes remained on some of the older slides, it did get rid of most of them and saved a lot of time.
The only negative I found with the scanner was that, it occasionally would develop a memory glitch and the slides would scan with a black border. I would have to do them over. I finally found it quicker to preview the slides before scanning and make the necessary corrections.
All in all, I am very pleased with this scanner and with the results. I have yet to try it with photos or negatives, but I feel sure it will perform with equally good results.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Edges of Your Original Are Not Scanned

When is your company going to issue a software fix on this issue.
Or sale an glass adapter that reduces the area to accommodate this flaw.
It is very hard to get a square scan.
If you are scanning in Full Auto Mode, or using thumbnail preview in Home Mode or Professional Mode, move the
document or photo about 6 mm (0.2 inch) away from the horizontal and vertical edges of the document table to avoid
cropping.
If you are scanning using normal preview in Office Mode, Home Mode, or Professional Mode, move the document or
photo about 3 mm (0.12 inch) away from the horizontal and vertical edges of the document table to avoid cropping.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Dear Epson,
For about 3 or 4 days I have been scanning our family photo heirlooms dating back to the 1800's. Previously, I was using a copier scanner type of equipment.
The difference in quality now that I'm using the Epson Perfection V600 Photo Scanner is truly remarkable! A good scan does make a huge difference in preserving the quality of heritage photos.
Thank you Epson for providing a high quality photo scanner to those of us wanting to preserve historic heritage family photos
Sincerely,
Henri Fecteau

Great Scanner - Junk Negative/Slide Trays
on June 9, 2012

I bought the Epson V600 to scan old negatives and prints from WWI & II. I have no complaints with the scan quality at all but, the negative trays are total junk. Made of really cheap plastic and are truly cumbersome.
Epson needs to come out with a quality negative/slide tray for this unit. I didn't use the outdated Essentials. I have a current version of Photoshop which does a great job.
I would recommend this scanner to friends due to the quality of the scan with prints and negatives.

Good one, a little complicated

Once hooked up and installed it works great. It is a little confusing whether you are scanning, producing a pdf or doing something else. Finally, I found that if I pressed the pdf button on the front of the scanner, the software presented me with all the options I needed. The first thing you have to find is the file location where the scanner is going to place your document, that is on another screen...once you set that up, you are good to go...clicking on the scan button makes a page, clicking on it again makes another one, and clicking finish, forms all of the scanned pages into a single pdf document. That is nice...but a little hard to find.

Epson Perfection V600 Photo scanner

I bought this scanner in April of 2014 and have had no problems with it. I particularly like the LED light system and its quick warm up. Between this and my previous V500, I have scanned thousands of slides and photographs. I am pleased with the ease of use of the scanning software, and the quality of the scans. Whenever I have had need to seek assistance, I have been treated courteously, and each time the issues have been solved. I would recommend this scanner for its price and ease of use.

Great Scanner, Hassle free

Used this scanner during my undergrad at OSU for photography. Great scanner for beginners to professionals. Finally purchased one for home use. For the money spent there really is no better option in my opinion. Easy to use, great results, but you can also really get into the heavy, technical scanning as well.

I have been using this scanner for about two years. I bought it to scan negative film and it does a great jpb. However, I originally bought it to scan 4" x 5" negatives. It does not do negatives that size.
It scans color and black and white pictures and documents with great clarity.
My only con is that it will not scan my 4" x 5" negatives. Mostly my fault for not reading the description of the scanner.
