Excellent Scanner

After a few weeks of online comparison I settled on this little beauty. At the highest Resolution it takes a few minuits to scan 1 picture but at 600 dpi you can get a photo scan in under 15 seconds. Quality is superb, the included software is good for a beginner but combined with something more advance (in my case Corel Photo-paint) you can really bring pictures to life and reveal dazzling detail and color. I use it for desktop publishing and have absolutely no complaints. Note there IS an ON/OFF switch.

Out of the box greatness. Needed to scan some 40 year old pictures and bring them back to life. This scanner and the software provided did an excellent job. Also used it on some very old slides and again it performed beyond my expectations. I looked and researched scanners to restore and scan pictures and slides and all I can say is....Thanks Epson you saved the day.

The v600 performs well with medium format negs & slide films. Easy setup with OS widows 7 pro. Did not use the abobe elements 9 software that was provided. Instead I used adobe lightroom. This scanner is really a good buy for a flatbed.

Epson Perfection V600 Photo Scanner

A great scanner for the price!
The only negatives are the lack of higher quality film holders and a case to put the holders in for storage. At the very least Epson could offer a case for the film holders as an option.
Also the user's guide is only available in .html format with no PDF user's guide available. At least EPSON could have a PDF guide available for downloading.
Finally, EPSON could offer more frequent updates of the included software on its website.

Having been the proud owner of a V600 for one week and really running it through its paces, I am satisfied. The main reason I bought it, photo negs, slides, film material, the V600 handles fairly well. My only criticism IS the very tacky way EPSON has designed the so-called "slide" holder. With every change of slides YOU HAVE TO touch the glass, that won't fly. Seems to me EPSON could have come up with a better design for the holder and the plastic is cheap, destined to eventually break

Excellant photo scanner

I purchased this Epson 600 to scan many older photos that were taken before digital. Many are starting to fade and I wanted to preserve them for future generations. Many of the photos were scanned on auto and they turned out very good. Only two had to be redone manually to capture them correctly. The speed is moderate and it is several times faster than my old one. You can do several photos at once and it will single out each one as long as you leave a space between each. This has been a good addition for me. I can't comment on a film or slide scan as I haven't had a chance to test it yet.

I am amazed at how much detail it pulls out of the old photos, when scanned at 1200 dpi. Would buy again and recommend to friends and family.

While I haven't had the V600 very long, it is easily superior to every other scanner I have ever owned - and most I have ever used. It works as advertised and doesn't hide the resulting files. Best of all, the quality is terrific, it's pretty quick, and if I need to touch up a photo, Photoshop Elements 9 is right there. It's hard to find anything to complain about. I guess I do have to figure out how to keep up with the different masks.
