The Perfection V600 does exactly what I hoped it would do!

I bought my Epson Perfection V600 scanner yesterday (December 21, 2021), possibly too recently to write a solid review, but with help of three YouTube videos I've gotten my V600 successfully scanning color slides from 1966 - and it's working well. My only complaint is that the color slide scanning controls that I've been given - downloaded today from Epson.com - differ somewhat from the controls that the YouTube reviewers have. It would be nice to be able to follow along with them step by step, but I can't.

v600 Very Good Machine

I had an older model that I used a lot but had to replace it as I couldn't get to hook up to my new computer so went look for the same kind as I loved it. After spending a few hours looking and comparing the V600 won out as I was already aware of what it could do and it wouldn't be that hard to run it. The V600 was to do more things as I have some old film I couldn't do on the other one that I can do on this one so I was Happy to be able to makes copies. I have put it through the paces as I spent 4 days copies pictures that my bother had that I didn't and it just keep running like a Timex. After seeing how well the V600 did my-sister-in-law got one for them and is very happy with it.

Great scanner

I love all of the features on this scanner. It scans photos, slides, negatives without a hitch. The only negative thing I have is the the holder for strips of negatives is a little difficult to work with. The negative strip doesn't stay put. But that's a minor problem. It way the colorization can be improved and minor flaws in the photo can be eliminated is great.

Works very well with my Mac. Silverfast 8 was included to provide full functionality with Mac and it’s great. I especially appreciate that it will automatically frame multiple photos and the batch scan them since I’m digitizing hundreds of photos and slides. You can select the type of file to be created and resolution. I’m creating JPEG files as they are small and suit my purpose for the majority of photos. For some I may select more editable TIFF files.

No longer communicates after Windows update

My job is to help libraries and historical organizations digitize their materials. I've spent a decade recommending Epson Photo Perfection scanners and after the last few weeks of tears, I won't be doing that for the V600. My V550 seems to be doing fine, but the V600 will not connect to any computer I've tried. I suspect it's related to Windows updates, but who knows - since there's no clear error message and no way to troubleshoot what's happening. When the scanner works, it's great. When it doesn't work, you'll pull out your hair trying to figure out why.

Frustrating

I bought it beginning of January. Im trying to make a slide show for my grandpa's memorial this weekend. Used it a bunch and then in the middle of scanning a bunch of photos, it stops working. I spent hours trying to get it to work again. I even had them send me a new one in case it was the machine. After hours of messing with it (unplugging, uninstalling, reinstalling, etc.) I got it to work for a bit. Then I took a break and when I came back to it it stopped working again. Spent a few more hours trying to get it to work again before I gave up. I have windows 10 (seems like not as much of an issue with a Mac according to online) only got like 200 photos scanned. Should be enough for the memorial but I still need to scan all the photos albums to make digital copies for my family.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Really good. One area for improvement I had to scan about 200 35 mm slides. It was fast and the came out great. I also had 200 2.75” square 120 film mounted slides. The included adapter is for film not 120 mounted slides. I was able to play around and found a way to scan 3 slides at once with some post scan cropping. Great scanner very pleased

Works great for scanning negatives! The included software feels a bit outdated and "clunky", particularly in "Professional Mode", and reminds me of the Epson scanning software I used on Windows 95 with an older Epson scanner I had, however, it does work well. Perhaps this is due to a need to retain backwards compatibly?
