Happy as a clam.

I purchased the V600 scanner to replace my Epson Perfection 2450 scanner. The 2450 still works perfectly, but it would not run with Windows 7 64 bit. The V600 is very easy to use and I reallly like the use of LED's. I'm sure that they will last longer and they have no "start up time". I also like the fact that the cover locks in an UP position to facilitate getting whatever you want to scan/copy in the spot it should be. There is a very small learning curve when going from the 2450 to the 600. I've used it for scanning color slides (2X2 and 2 1/4 square, color negs, some very old BW prints and some items out of a book. All very easy and gave great quality.
I strongly recommend this device to anyone who wants speed and QUALITY in a desktop unit.

I needed to replace my Film Scanner when I got Windows 7 in my new Computer. I checked other Film Scanners Specifications but liked what the V600 had to offer. I was a little skeptical about using a Flat Bed Scanner for my Slides but after using it a few times I was really impressed with the Quality of the Scans. I can set the resolution for small files for Projection and higher resolution for Printing. My old Scanner created 19-21mb files which were OK for 11x14.With the V600 I have created 256mb to 512mb files of information that will make really good larger prints. I don't know whatever else I may scan but for what it does for Slide Scanning was well worth the nominal cost of the Unit.

Just out of the box

I received the scanner yesterday (13/10/10) and installed it on an XP machine. It installed well and is much more intuitive than my older scanner. I would appreciate however if the product came with some form of user guide rather than having to go to the internet.

V600 Performs Exceptionally Well

I just received my Epson V600 Scanner. Works perfectly, right-out-of-the-box, on my Windows 7 64-bit computer.
I purchased the scanner to scan a multitude of slides and film that I've stored in boxes for years. Many were taken with my Rollei Marine underwater camera.
The scan quality is high-enough for professional print projects.

The scanner works very well once I figured it out. I am disappointed with the way the manual is put together (I just see various links - almost a frequently asked questions listing). Guess I'm "old school" and like to see a manual.

Epson V600 Scanner

I purchased this scanner primarily because I had a large number of medium format negatives I needed to scan.( Previously, I had the V300, and it worked well, but couldn't handle the larger format negatives.) I have scanned almost 700 negatives so far, mostly B & W, 220, but I have also scanned a number of negatives of a format used from 1899-1984, which do not fit the holder supplied with the scanner. (The negatives are 1/4" wider than the supplied frame will hold.) I ended up devising a crude way to position the negatives directly on the glass bed, and got surprisingly good, clear, results, even though the edges of some of the negatives were slightly curled up. If I get to the point where I want to make large prints, I will make something to hold the negatives flat, and I will re-scan.
So far everything has worked well for me, whether doing 35mm slides/film strips, or the larger format film negatives, plus copying photographic prints and text items.

I can't say enough good things about this scanner. It is super easy to use, fast, and the results are amazing. I had it scan an old photo of my Mom when she was 20. The photo was dark and small. Imagine my surprise when I saw my Dad sitting on the chair next to my Mom in the scanned photo. The color restoration, and photo enhancement lightened the photo so both people could be seen! I have scanned slides, and film, as well as old photos. I've even made pdf files. I couldn't be happier. This suits all my needs and is worth every penny I spent.

What I've really needed.

With a large collection of 35mm slides, I've wanted some way to make digital copies of them - both to preserve them as well as to make prints of those I cherished the most. The Epson Perfection V600 Photo really fits the bill. It is easy to work. The quality of the resolution is great. Its ability to restore some of the faded images is an addded bonus.
