I researched all the different models in this price range and am very please with the results. I purchased the V600 for the soul purpose of scanning very old black and white negative in medium format. I've also played around with the positive negative (slides) and that was outstanding. Highly recommend this scanner. Easy to setup and use. Didn't even have to read the user's guide.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Outstanding scanner

I have had the V-600 just a few days and certainly haven't had time to work through all its features. But from the scans I have done using the reflective mode and the slide scanning mode I find the results excellent and the scanner easy to use. I have had previous Epson scanners so found the software easy to learn and use. I use the Professional Mode because that gives me the most control. The scanner seems fast and the colors are accurate. I definitely recommend this scanner for someone looking for a fine print/slide/negative scanner.

Auto mode easy to use

The V600 scanner is easy to use for digitizing slides. However, the product instruction manual is cumbersome. I am having trouble learning about all the capabilities.

I love, love, love it! It's fast and it will scan a book or my beaded jewelry because the back of the lid adjusts to a horizontal position (raises up) for thicker items.

I purchased the V600 scanner to replace my Epson Perfection 2450 scanner. The 2450 still works perfectly, but it would not run with Windows 7 64 bit. The V600 is very easy to use and I reallly like the use of LED's. I'm sure that they will last longer and they have no "start up time". I also like the fact that the cover locks in an UP position to facilitate getting whatever you want to scan/copy in the spot it should be. There is a very small learning curve when going from the 2450 to the 600. I've used it for scanning color slides (2X2 and 2 1/4 square, color negs, some very old BW prints and some items out of a book. All very easy and gave great quality.
I strongly recommend this device to anyone who wants speed and QUALITY in a desktop unit.

I needed to replace my Film Scanner when I got Windows 7 in my new Computer. I checked other Film Scanners Specifications but liked what the V600 had to offer. I was a little skeptical about using a Flat Bed Scanner for my Slides but after using it a few times I was really impressed with the Quality of the Scans. I can set the resolution for small files for Projection and higher resolution for Printing. My old Scanner created 19-21mb files which were OK for 11x14.With the V600 I have created 256mb to 512mb files of information that will make really good larger prints. I don't know whatever else I may scan but for what it does for Slide Scanning was well worth the nominal cost of the Unit.

Just out of the box

I received the scanner yesterday (13/10/10) and installed it on an XP machine. It installed well and is much more intuitive than my older scanner. I would appreciate however if the product came with some form of user guide rather than having to go to the internet.

V600 Performs Exceptionally Well

I just received my Epson V600 Scanner. Works perfectly, right-out-of-the-box, on my Windows 7 64-bit computer.
I purchased the scanner to scan a multitude of slides and film that I've stored in boxes for years. Many were taken with my Rollei Marine underwater camera.
The scan quality is high-enough for professional print projects.
I would recommend this to a friend!
