Great scanner!

Pros:
I love that the software detects separate objects and automatically selects and scans them into separate files. This is great when scanning lots of photos for family trees.
The DMax is very good. Thanks to Epson for listing that info; Canon won't release it on their scanners, even on request.
Good support for Windows 7.
I like that the lid holds itself up both at 45 and 90 degrees. Most brands don't offer that except on all-in-one models.

Epson Scanner Delights Photography Archivers
on December 26, 2010

The Epson V600 Scanner is easy to use and produces photo files that greatly enhance the prints, negatives, and slides that photographers have been storing in various albums and boxes over the years. It provides an enjoyable way to create virtual albums with all media combined for the albums of your choice.
In particular, the "digital ice" feature makes photos even more beautiful than the original versions.

Versatile and fast

This scanner installs seamlessly under WIN-XP . The native Epson software works fine as do VueScan and Abby Fine reader. I expect that the software installation for Linux will be just as good: Epson support for Linux was very important factor in my choice of this scanner The V600 replaces my Epson GT-8500 which although working fine, has a much lower resolution (400 dpi), and a measurably bigger footprint on the desk.

So far so good

I bought the scanner (v600) primarily to scan color negatives & old photos. So far, its working pretty good w/r to scan quality.
Installation:
Installation was pretty easy. You plugin the power and USB cable, then install the software. The Epson Scan installs (btw 5-10 minutes) & your running if your computer recognizes the scanner. One thing to pay attention to is be sure to turn the power on on the side.
Setup:
Overall, setup wasn't difficult. The only complaint is setting up the film holder and putting the negatives in & out of it. It takes a little time, especially if your scanning alot of negatives. I would suggest to Epson if they could make the holder easier by putting a hinge or something that just tilts/opens up to put the film in & snaps close.
I would suggest to Epson if you could make the holder easier by putting a hinge or something that just tilts/opens up to put the film in & snaps close. Its kinda painful right now.
Scan Quality:
From my minimum usage and experience, scan quality seems to be as advertised - so far so good. I've been using the Fully Auto mode which makes it "dead easy" for anyone. I haven't tried the other features like dust removal or ICE yet... but have set the auto mode and we'll see.
Thanks for a great product and hope you'll listen (w/r to the holder) and make it better.

Pretty Good Stuff

I bought this scanner with the intention of scanning a lot of old 120 slides. I am not disappointed in the least. I do have one quibble and that is I cannot stand the Epson software. The forced use of a serial number at the end of the file name on a flat-bed scanner hampers a smooth workflow. It means having to edit the file name after the scan is complete, making a 2-step process out of what should be a single step.

Good start

The initial start-up of the system went as well as any I've experienced for an electronic or computer device. I found the tutorial documents thorough and easy to follow. The scanner made excellent copies of 40+ year old Kodachrome slides the first time around. As I started to learn the color correction and dust removal features they got even better. At first use, this was an excellent product, and I believe as I learn more about it, my results will be even better.

I have only had the V600 scanner for a couple of weeks.
I bought it so I could scan our slides into my computer.
It is working just great. You can only do 4 slides at a time so it is a little time consuming but it works.
I haven't tried film yet but that is not what I bought for.
Easy to install. I am glad I bought it.

Espson Artisan 810

This all-in-one printer replaced my Epson RX500. I absolutely loved my RX500 & was very sad to see it die. I scan A lot of slides, negatives and photos. So it was necessary for my to find a printer that did this. To my disappointment, they don't make one that will do slides & negatives anymore. I did however purchase the Epson Perfection V600 Photo along with the Artisan 810. I LOVE both of them. I'm not thrilled to have 2 machines to do the job, but they are both wonderful machines! The Artisan is hooked up to my desktop computer and wireless for my laptop. I love that feature. The touchscreen is GREAT! So many things were different on this printer that I wasn't sure if I was going to like them. I spent all day playing with the printer. Pictures come out awesome, of course it's an Epson!!! There's a special place for the smaller photo paper, good feature. I fax often as well. So much simpler & faxes more than one page! I printed photos straight from my SD card...BEAUTIFUL! It has a USP port if you just wanted to plug in your camera. I don't know what else to say...Photo come out just as if they were professionally done. I am a person that analyzes every product, read all of the reviews. It takes weeks or sometimes months to do that, but am always satisfied with the results. I love Epsons products, and if your considering the Artisan 810..go for it!
