This scanner exceeded my expectaions in every way.I'm not a very high tech guy and I was afraid this scanner would be too complicated for me but I am very pleased with how easy it actually is. Picture quality, speed, software, simplicity and price no complaints. If you have photos, slides or negatives to digitize this is all anyone needs. The tips from other reviews about taping down the slide holder are right on.I used blue painters tape so it would come off easily. Good job Epson great product!

Epson Perfection V600 Photo Scanner

Perfection, what a perfect name for this device. I did a large amount of research on photo scanners before deciding on the V600. I had about 1000 slides to scan and some were over 40 years old. You are limited to four 35mm slides at a time but it is well worth the investment. I should have know the V600 would be great because my Epson inkjet printer/scanner/copier has performed flawlessly for years.

This scanner makes it so easy to scan a document and save it as a PDF file in two simple steps. I was also amazed on how simple it was to scan negatives and electronically preserve treasured memories. If it's simplicity and quality that you are seeking, then this scanner is the one. I am also using this scanner on Windows and Mac OSX. Scanner works good on either system.

Excellent scanner

I gave 5 stars, but should be 4 1/2. This is an excellent scanner with very good controls and color correction. Two minor things to improve. The negative carrier clip in is flimsy. I haven't had any problem with them and they continue to work well. My concern is they will wear out. Also in the professional mode, if you crop an image it will automatically correct the color. Too many times it is a few shades off from original. For reference I was a professional photographer and did my own color darkroom printing.

Less than expected

Scanner was highly recommended. The images are fine, but I found it to be slow and not well suited for scanning lots of photos. Also, came with outdated photo shop software that is impossibly difficult to use, and since it is no longer being sold, there is no support to assist.

I am heavy into genealogy and spend a lot of time scanning old photos, slides, and negatives. I have owned several Epson scanners and when the bulb on my 4870 began to go out, I looked for a replacement and decided on the V600. Set-up was easy and fast and I'm very impressed with the scanning speed. However, I did purchase Silverfast 8 as an enhanced software to better utilize the capabilities of the scanner.

I was searching for an affordable scanner to convert old faded photos to digital. The V600 not only met my needs, it exceeded it. The scanner and it's DIGITAL ICE software not only converted the pictures the scanned pictures but also brought them back to life. The digitized versions of the faded and colored pictures looked fully restored with vibrant colors and details. I would recommend this scanner to anyone who wants to revitalize their old photos.

I've had the scanner for about 6 months now, it has been easy to use and good quality scans for a lot of old photos that I got from my parents. I've scanned hundreds of pics with no trouble...scan to PDF works great too.
