Just What I Wanted

This product does exactly what I wanted if for, which is to scan a large number of old family pictures. It is simple to install and easy to use. All in All a Great Value.

I do like the scanner. The only negative I have is I would like higher resolution. An added feature would be a document feeder. It is easy to operate and the pictures I have scanned are very good.

The complement my artisan 50 printer. In my CD replication business, I can give my clients perfect replicas of their original products. The optical imagery is just what I need.

Great Scanner, crisp reconditioning of older prints. Am concerned however, with its ability to function with windows 8. Have yet to get it the PDF module with it.

Epsom V600 Scanner

Just what I wanted. I found that the scanner could scan as many as 16 35mm film frames and as many as 8 photos. The scanner could separate the pictures and keep the each in their file. The color and quality of the scans is great. I had many old pictures which the scanner handled and produced very good files.

It is a slow process when you have hundreds of photos to scan. I did figure out you can put several pictures at a time on the scanner, and by spreading them apart, they will come up individually. It also does a nice job of restoring colors on the auto mode. I am very happy with this scanner.

Good Hardware, Some Software Issues

The V600 is actually a great piece of hardware, but software installation issues knock it down a star. As others have noted, software installation from disc does NOT follow the stated instructions, is confusing, and prone to failure. In addition, the software version on the disc is outdated, and the program(s) must be downloaded from this website for use with the most recent OS. Again, the extra steps and procedures are poorly described, and may cause frustration.
Despite all this, if you do managed to get the software and hardware installed and working, the UI is fairly good, usage is relatively easy, and results are outstanding. I use this scanner only as a flatbed, owning a separate film scanner for negatives and slides. I tested my third-party software for that scanner with the V600, and was disappointed. The Epson scanner software is actually better. So for prints and other flat, positive materials, the V600 can yield excellent results.
