Good Scanner

This scanner works well and is pretty easy to set up and use. The only problem with it is that there is no Windows 10 driver available for the scanner, so it is sort of a "legacy device."

Excellent Quality & Features

As with the 2 Epson printers I now own, the quality and features have met or exceeded my expectations. My only problem with Epson is that I want a new Photo printer, the Sure Color P800. Thank you Epson. The set up with the V600 was easy and after loading the software I was up and running quickly. I like the lift top seals nicely to keep the dust out. When you raise the lid to scan, the lid clicks and stays open so you have both hands to place your negatives or prints squarely on the glass. This is an excellent & thoughtful feature.

Bad ABBYY V9.0 Software
on February 22, 2016

V-600 PHOTO Scanner, I am running Win10.....I loaded the programs from the supplied disc = my WORD 2016 will not work. I already had ABBYY V6.0(old V-500 software) so I UnInstalled V9.0 and now my Word files work ok. Got any ideas why this happened?
I don't think I got the OCR program as you state on the V-600 box......where is it?

Good Scanner BUT Software is a nightmare

I love the scanner but it is rendered useless by software that won't load properly. I have to constantly clean the register and reconfigure the computer for it to work with the Epson app which renders it useless for working with slides and negatives

this scanner is not equipped with a simple way to scan a 35mm neg. it uses a plastic snap devise that is not wide enough and it is flimsey.

WARNING - not real 64 bit driver
on August 19, 2011

I just found out that Epson's idea of Win7 64-bit support is to install a 32 bit driver that works with a 64 bit OS. So forget any processing benefit from your 64-bit OS and 64-bit scanning software. Considering it is also only USB 2.0 I actually regret buying the thing. I know - my bad for believing the 64 bit support was native.

Good News & Bad News

While the results are overall better than my previous scanner, getting there is WAY less than half the fun. The film and slide holders are much more difficult to position properly, the on/off switch very inconveniently located more than halfway back on one side, and the software so counter-intuitive that I have not been able to preserve the scan settings from one group of four slides to the next four, even within the same session. I would recommend the V600 only to professionals who don't mind spending the extra effort needed to get the best results.

After endless hours, I still have not gotten this scanner to work with my computer! It did manage to scan 2 photos. I would say they took about 4 to 5 minutes each. I am looking to scan tons of pictures and was looking for a fast scanner. This is not. I currently am uninstalling the software to try again.
