Software is not ready yet!

This would be an excellent scanner except for the fact that the Digital ICE feature does not work in the current version of the PC application software. It works with after market VueScan, so the problem is not hardware or firmware -- it's the PC application software. If you select Digital ICE for film, it does not even attempt the extra (infrared) scan.
Epson support was helpful, though, and authorized an RMA for my unit. I would consider buying this product in the future if they fix this flaw. For my intended use, Digital ICE was a mandatory feature, so it needs to go back for now.

Good scanner not great software

The scanner is fantastic. The Windows 7 software is not great. The custom settings can only be saved and applied to previews. To scan, you must set them manually. Support is a bit weak.

Fantastic Scanner

I have been purchasing Epson products (scanners and printers for well over 20 years and I am never disappointed. When the office scanner bit the dust, I was asked to find a replacement. That was easy, I knew it would be an Epson. The V600 is super easy to scan with, and you scan film, and slides. with color correction it is that much easier. I still have the ability to edit in Adobe Creative Suite. I love the email feature. Seriously this is a very good, reliable scanner for a very reasonable price.

I'm no technology guru; if it weren't for my son, I would understand nothing about computers and other gadgets. But I knew what I wanted this scanner to do and so far, I can't complain. In my opinion it's a little pricey, but..... I do wish it came with an actual instruction manual. I do better with something I can hold in my hand and read first.

After a day's use I love this scanner. I was able to scan multiple photos in one scan. Dust removal and color correction is very good. I have not scanned slides or negatives yet. The scanning process allows for many levels of customization and is executed through an easy to navigate dialogue box. There is a copy of Adobe Photo Elements 9 included. The scanner's software includes a OCR software, ABBY V. 6 Sprint, that allows you to convert scanned documents into editable Word or Excel documents. There is a "Copy" function that allows you to copy a document that prints through your printer. The "Scan to Email" blows, you can only scan to MS Outlook. At the highest resolution, 1200dpi, the scan takes much longer than at say 300dpi, but, that is to be expected.

I love the capabilities of my Epsom scanner but it will not work with windows 10 this is not the fault of the scanner however. It worked with photos at first. Then, when I switched to positive slides It will not leave that setting no matter what. Freezes and needs reboot. moral of my story is get Epsom get rid of windows 10

So far so good

Just set it up and it seems to scan old slides into digital images rather well and that was the main thing I was looking for. Instructions for this were rather vague, however, and I am old enough to still want a hardcopy manual, making the lack of even a pdf version something of a put-off. Yes, online manual did help. Side issue, when I went to register the product online, it would not allow me to enter 2016 as the year of purchase. (Also note: my failure to recommend this to a friend is simple due to the fact that I don't go around making blanket recommendations of things to people--it seems to work for me; I can't say for someone else.)

Good scanner, obsolete software

If you are a Mac user, do NOT buy this scanner. The scanner software is all 32 bit code. Mac next OS (launching in Q3 2019 and public beta available today) will only run 64 bit software. A search of the Epson website shows no commitment to update the software. Caveat emptor.
